Too much price gauging and probably cause they are boring to watch this year.

I hope this signals the beginning of the long awaited decline of the Canucks franchise.

Good. Maybe they'll stop gouging the fans.
Watching a hockey game is not worth $300. CBC and TSN put on a great show, I'd stay home too.

They'll still "sell out" like the Flames constantly sell out 19,289 seats a game

Nothing to do with fan support. This is disgusting price gauging and sticking it to people who pay your bills. The NHL is so god damn expensive and I fully support Canuck fans saying "hell no" to their greedy owners.
Edit: lower bowl tickets for 450. Jesus. Christ.

Last year I went to a Sens game on Sunday afternoon against Carolina and paid $100 for four tickets in the 300 level, four soft drinks and four hot dogs. My buddy went to a Canucks game against the Islanders on a Sunday afternoon and paid more than that for a single ticket in the 300s. It does sound like the Canucks might be bigger price gougers than some of the other owners (but to be fair the Sens games might be in less demand due to the arena's location).

No way, CBC has its faults but I love playoff hockey on CBC. They also do the best video montages and it's not even close.

I'd say it has more to do with Ottawa being half the size of Vancouver with half the history.
Complaining about the location of the rink is such a loser comment to make. Especially when.it is right off the main highway in Ottawa and Ottawa is far from a huge city.

I take it you haven't gone to a sens game then. Getting there is the biggest pain in the ass imaginable. It's like they tried to make getting to games a horrible experience on purpose.

I went to a game there this year and it was easy except for a little traffic getting to and from the rink. But the smart Send fans I've talked to have told me the parking lot is pretty brutal. The location is fine though.

Crazy, there's still tickets available for the game tomorrow.
Looked at ticket prices and it looks like the cheapest tickets are $153/ea in the corner of the 300 level non-alcohol section. Regular seats in the 300 section are $223/each. Paying almost $450 for 2 people (before food & drinks) for a single round 1 game really is absurd.

And then there's the Cleveland Barons, who built their Coliseum an hour out of the city.

If a free coke and a hot dog is a selling point, then there is serious trouble in Ottawa.

My friend was trying to sell his tickets to game 2 and was having a heck of a time trying to sell them. Usually I would be all over it, but the cost is just too much for me.

Flames used to have trouble selling first round tickets in the 80s too.

Yeah, prices are insane, but I think the novelty has just worn off here. They've won the NW 6(?!) times in a row IIRC. Not nearly as much hype as previous years. First round tickets weren't snapped up last year either - fans saying "I'll wait till the later rounds" lol. canucks fans aren't typically hockey fans, they're hype fans and trend hoppers.
Slightly off topic, but for a team that has issues mentally, the lessened pressure will be beneficial to the canucks and if they get the right opponents, I'm nervous that this could be their year.

There were waiting lists all throughout the 80's and I can attest it was impossible to get tickets for playoff games. It was the 90's when the Flames started losing in the first round every season that apathy set in. I don't know if any games of the 1995 (Sharks) and 1996 (Hawks) series sold out. That Sharks series especially I remember walking in and getting tickets for the first game and the building was at least 2000 below capacity.
