Default Brian Burke Fired - Nonis hired

@TSNBobMcKenzie: Toronto Maple Leafs have apparently fired Brian Burke as general manager. Working on official confirmations.

Weird timing. I wonder if Burke tried to force the new owners for an extension given his distaste for being a lame-duck GM. Or maybe he got fired because he wanted to trade for LuongO?

That's really odd. I think Toronto is a good goalie away from being a playoff team, which by all accounts, Burke was working on acquiring. Very strange indeed.

Who would have thought that Kevin Lowe would out last Burke. I love the oilers!

hmmm i wouldn't mind Burke as our GM. I would take him over Feaster.

Dear Leaf fans, we're sorry about the lockout - please accept this gift as a small token.

Listening to Hockey Central and they're just as surprised by Burke's firing - kind of funny to listen to them trying to talk it out as they really don't have a feel for why it happened.

Or maybe it was the other way around, and the owners didnt want him to guive up what he was going to give up, they had a blow up over it, and they canned him?

Really, really weird.

WOW.

Most shocking GM firing in the history of ever, for me, I think. He won't be unemployed long I would imagine.
