Let's talk about: Mike Cammalleri
Anyone else think it looks like he's enjoying being a mentor/leader to this suddenly young team? 1 year left on his current contract and I for one am happy for it. His attitude is going to be a big positive next year.

bet he is the next captain
Gio, Backlund (KHL in 2014 amirite?), Brodie and Glencross (grandfathered in) with the A´s

Like the guy, but I think he becomes very valuable next trade deadline.
Keep him around if he he wants to extend for a reasonable amount, otherwise move him next year in Feb.

So we'll trade our captain two years in a row?

Too old and too expensive for this team. Need more size and grit. If someone can take him off of Flames hands in exchange for some size and some prospects, that would be great.

sure why not
the next captain is gonna be on the hot seat, as he is replacing the face of the franchise (Iginla).... Cammalleri is a short term fix, so why not. Better for a C to go to a vet.

This situation (gutting of the team) creates opportunities for others, and it is fun to see who embraces it.
Cammelleri looks like he has really taken the opportunity to become a leader and mentor. Having some players like that is critical to avoid slipping into a culture of losing.
He'll be useful moving forward, just wish they'd take him out with an injury for the rest of this year....

It is interesting to watch the contrast between Cammalleri and Tanguay since the Iginla trade

Yep Cammi was one of the 3 main floaters before the Iggy trade. He is not floating near as much and getting back to help. Tanguay stayed the same.
I like him, but i think at the deadline he will have very good trade value. Could be another 1st round pick for 2014.

Cammalleri, Stempniak and Sarich have all played with the same enthusiasm that the kids have shown.
Jackman and McGrattan too.
Maybe 'a' is the key vowel?

Yeah Cammy is still injured while Tanguay got injured a few games after the Iggy trade. I am not sure what you are implying here. Tanguay scored a few goals before his season-ending injury.

Agreed that Cammi has started to show some more heart. But if were looking at veterans with heart, Stajan and Stempy have had it all along. By far are two most consistent and hard working veteran forwards. Glad to see Stempy will be back for next year, and I hope we sign Stajan again. To a more reasonable contract this time of course.

He's really stepped up his game since the trade deadline. Looks useful 5 on 5 now.

You don't think Tanguay was floating after the Iginla trade?
