So, is Kipper officially done?
I really don't think they will keep Ramo off the roster for another year.

Wow.
Well, good to have that veteran goalkeeper with NHL experience if Kipper does retire or get traded.

one year is fine. Think they should have waited to see what Berra and Ramo could do. Not sure why they had to give him close to a million? I highly doubt there would have been a big market for him.
Not a bad signing.

Kipper must have told management he is done.
On the plus side, that is a tradeable contract should a couple of the young guys work out.

perfect! Let him, Ramo and Berra battle it out in camp. If Berra is ready, you can always waive/trade Joey Mac.

Wait for what? He'd be signed by someone before the season starts.

They way he's played so far, he is an asset IMO, so good signing.
I know we picked him up on waivers, but he was at that time coming off a long term back injury and hadn't played in a long time.
I think now he has value, so if we end up with too many goalies next fall (Kipper/Ramo/Berra) I think JMac could be moved for a late pick.
I still think Kipper is hanging 'em up though, so IMO it will be a three horse race next fall for our two goalie spots.

This.
Kipper's actual salary is so low now that even if Kipper comes back the ownes rcan afford to have multiple goalies signed to similar Joey Mac contracts. At this money Joey can always be moved for future considerations if need be.

Good signing. He has shown that he's capable of stepping between the ice. Will be able to generate more of a battle between him, Ramo, and Berra. Out of those three, one should be good enough to be a starter. Possibly could have a 1A/1B situation if Ramo/Berra perform great.

You think there is a market for MacDonald?
I also don't think he is tradeable at close to $1 million. I doubt he would be picked up on waivers at close to $1 million.
To me this signing says its Ramo and MacDonald next season and Berra has little to no shot of making the team. Granted i did not think Berra had much of a chance to begin with.
Kipper is out whether he wants to stay or not.

No tank job works unless you have a three headed monster in goal.
Good for MacDonald though, he's worked pretty hard to get another shot at the NHL. Had he not bandaged the wounds early on, these wins of late would have us worried about catching Florida.

At worst he's an affordable backup. Not sure how this can be faulted at all

Holy balls, that's a lot of goalies.
Kiprusoff
MacDonald
Brossoit
Berra
Ortio
Irving (UFA)
Taylor (UFA)
With Ramo still to come.
That's a lot of goalies.

The extra 300k in salary he's making over the minimum will not make or break his trade value. The Flames look to be well below the cap next year, and it's quite likely they will be carrying three goalies on the roster all year long. Even if Kiprusoff does come back, the team will be spending just over 3 million on the position.

Good signing. With Ramo and Berra we're not sure what we are going to get. This provides a steady NHL calibre backup and if he doesn't make the team, he can be waived, traded or sent down. The only way I see him not making the team is if Kipper returns and Ramo beats him out.
This is how I see our goalie situation.
Flames : Kipper and Ramo
Heat : MacDonald and Berra
Utah : Brossoit
Finland: Ortio
or
