Default Flames 2013/14 Contracts/UFA/RFA Thread

I put this in the John Ramage signing thread, but I don't think it's a bad idea for this info to have a thread of it's own.

Could be a quick stop for this info for anyone who doesn't use CapGeek, plus they don't number the contracts on that site anyways.

So far, Flames are at 28 contracts for next season:

If the Flames re-sign Bouma, Backlund, Brodie, Butler, Byron, Breen (Holy B's already), Cundari and sign Ramo, it would put the Flames at 36 contracts for next season.

FYI, if you click onto the "Reserve List" link on CapGeek, it does give a numbered list of contracts, plus all upcoming RFAs.

I believe you forgot about Joey Mac being an upcoming UFA.

Two out of the top six "Veteran" forwards on your list I can see being moved in the off season. My picks are Tanguay and Glencross. I am not sold on the idea that Glencross is going to want to stick around during these upcoming lean years. Tanguay's play this season tells me he really will not fit into the grand designs the team has moving forward.

They're going to want STRONG puck possession players and Tanguay can't hold onto it at all.

Do you guys talk often? I think he's the kind of workhorse you want around, to show the new rooks how hard they should be working if they want to stay in the majors.

Do I have to speak to someone to have my own thoughts? I never implied once that I was privy to any knowledge of his thoughts.

The guy has been on one playoff team in nine years. I for one believe that would factor into any hockey players mind in making a decision to stick with a team entering into a re-build. Of course he is a good player and nice to keep around.

I think he has a strong will to stay in Alberta and Edmonton is more of a joke team than Calgary so he will probably stick around.

I see Glenncross as a solid 3rd liner who can contribute on offence. As long as he's not being overused he's not making poor decisions out there and getting dumb penalties. As long as we have 2 skill LWs ahead of him in the depth chart we'll see the best of Glenncross. Used properly he would be part of the solution.

I'm all for ditching Tanguay. I could see him taking a loooooong time to recover from that horrible knee injury. So much so that he might have to be our first buy-out.

Cannot buyout an injured player. Frankly, I am not sold on either Tanguay or Cammalari. I'm not sure that either of them are that appealing to move either. Certainly, I don't think either will be bought out. I think that best case scenario is they put up decent numbers getting heavy offensive minutes next year, then trade at deadline.

Glencross is not a 3rd line player. The guy is streaky and then disappears for long stretches but he still puts up the points and deserves to play top line minutes.

I think he'd be a 3rd liner on any decent team in the league. It's not that he doesn't produce, he's just not the kind of dominant player winning teams have on their top lines. And I mean dominant as in dominant all-round hockey player. Only my opinion though. I suppose he's the biggest goal threat we've got, but as long as that's the case we're doomed.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but Cervenka is actually an RFA. Atleast according to nhlnumbers.com.
