The Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with Yale Bulldogs forward Andrew Miller on a one-year entry level contract.

As many as 15 teams were in the mix for the 24-year-old's services.

A 5'8" 180 lb forward. Not sure he really brings any of the elements that team is lacking.

That's the thing tough, he probably saw he would have more of an opportunity in Edmonton (like Schultz) then on a legitimate playoff team. I can understand why he chose to go their. Say goodbye to winning though buddy.

That's just it... I can't put myself in his shoes (or skates, I guess) but you'd think a confident guy would opt for the foreseeable chance to WIN! ... perhaps that's more what players think once they're established... prior to that its just about getting to the Show.

But... it's not like there aren't other teams out there that would be able to give him ice-time. DeKeyser is already playing for the Red-Wings, a real team with playoff aspirations.

I get what you're saying though.

It's the MacT factor Lowe was talking about. Has to be.

I imagine the signing process involved an ice cream truck and some chloroform.

15 teams in the mix doesn't mean every team was angling hard to get him or showing the willingness that the Oilers may have been to offer him playing time.

Plus this guy doesn't seem like the big targets, and certainly not a Dekeyser, that is going to step in and play on a competitive team.

[post=sarcasm]He probably heard how half the teams in the league want Edmonton's roster. He probably also noticed how they are on the cusp of greatness, and have a tremendous core of young superstars......[/end sarcasm]

Oilers have way too many young skilled forwards (Eberle, Hall, RNH, Paajarvi) plus vet like Hemsky so i don't get why he will sign with the Oilers. Unless he thinks he can be their defensive 3rd line forwards.

Small wingers. Sounds right. Craig's ####### is the size of Kevin's hand.

Oilers getting some Lucic type players that'll make them a lot harder to play against. Oh wait, nope, they are signing vertically challenged prospects.

The Oilers don't need another small forward.

This threads been up for three hours now, and not one Oil fan has popped in to tell us what an awesome signing this was.

If they would have made a signing like this two weeks ago, this thread would be 150 posts long by now.

Doesn't look like the Oilers blueprint for disaster has changed much. Too heck with character and intangibles. Lets just keep going for the players with uber skills, cause it's worked so well so far.
