Predict What the Youngsters will Become
Just wondering what you all think, here are my predictions:
Baertschi: All star first liner 70 - 80 points a season
Backlund: Top 6 centre, 50/60 points/season
Gaudreau: Either complete bust, or a Patrick Kane type, probobly not as good though.
Jankowski: Wildcard, could become a bust, but could play in any role.
These are just a few, but name any prospect you like

Horak = Igor Larionov
He is going to become more known for his playmaking, passing and defensive centre skills than goal scoring. And probably rack up a bunch of assists.

Potential 1st line talent: Jankowski, Gaudreau, Baertschi, Backlund
No surefire top line talent. Baertschi so far is looking like he'll be more of a great 2nd liner. Backlund has developed into a great 2nd line centre so far, he'd need to surprise us to end up as a 1st liner. Gaudreau has the talent and skating but will the size hold him back? Jankowski is a long term project but appears to have the size/skill/skating package to end up as a 1st liner if he develops perfectly. Lot's of wildcards so I wouldn't count on any of these guys being 1st liners. Jankowski and Gaudreau might have the highest upside IMO but don't necessarily have a big likelihood of achieving it.
2nd line talent: Baertschi, Backlund, Horak, Reinhart, Granlund
Baertschi and Backlund are pretty surefire 2nd line talent at worst IMO. Horak has 2nd line upside for sure and if not he'll be an elite 3rd liner. Reinhart will need to surprise in his development to end up as a 2nd liner IMO, more likely a 3rd liner. Granlund is very much a wildcard IMO, very skilled but needs work on several areas of his game to even be an NHLer.
3rd line talent: Horak, Reinhart, Ferland, Agostino?, Hanowski?, Arnold?
Horak and Reinhart are pretty surefire 3rd line talents at worst IMO. Ferland is a wildcard needing more work on conditioning, skating and consistency. Haven't seen enough of Agostino, Arnold and Hanowski to really say so I put them here.
4th line talent: Ferland, Bouma, Jones, Byron, Nemisz, Elson, Agostino?, Hanowski?, Arnold?
Enough depth here that we should be fine on role players.
1st pairing defence: Brodie
Brodie has really emerged this year and especially since Bouw was shipped out. Looks like he could actually just straight up replace Bouwmeester IMO. Has the skating ability to just rush the puck from end to end by himself and get us out of trouble. Good but not amazing offensive instincts. Really active stick allows him to be solid defensively without physically overpowering opponents.
2nd pairing defense: Wotherspoon, Sieloff?, Kulak?, Culkin?
Wotherspoon looks the furthest along and the most likely to achieve 2nd pairing status. We have a few others who have that potential
3rd pairing defense: Breen, Cundari, Sieloff?, Kulak?, Culkin? Ramage?
Enough guys here that we should be set on 5-7th defensemen.
STRENGTHS
-we have depth in goal with Ramo, Berra, Brossoit, Gillies, Taylor. Hopefully one of them becomes elite
-we have good depth on LW and at C
WEAKNESSES
-1st line talent. No surefire 1st liners in the system
-top pairing talent. Nobody with top pairing upside outside of Brodie

Powerplay Quarterback

Bear in mind this is the style of player these guys remind me of that they should strive toward to be successful, not that I think they will necessarily achieve the same level of success:
Baertschi > Patrick Kane
Gaudreau > Danny Briere
Reinhart > Jarrett Stoll
Jankowski > Joe Thornton
Sieloff > Brooks Orpik
Hanowski > Brenden Morrow
Horak > Chris Kelly
Brodie > Dan Boyle
Backlund > Joe Pavelski
Wotherspoon > Niklas Hjalmarsson

If he is handled right I could see Gaudreau panning out to be a Patrick Kane whom some of his coaches have compared him to if I'm recalling correctly. I think that is his ceiling.
Baertschi, I'd be thrilled if he could turn into a Jiri Lehtenen for us, I think he has that two way ability in his game. To me that would be the ideal projection for Baertschi.
Horak, he's a tough guy to pin point to a specific player and it's shocking to think hes already almost a hundred games in. A lighter version of Erat is what I would really like to see.
Brodie to me has the makings of a solid top 4 offensive D, I'd like him to turn into a better version of Wideman. He's shown he can wreck smaller players too like he did to Parise last year, he just needs to gain the confidence to shoot more to get his offensive game to the next level.
Hanowski is way to early to pass a judgement on yet. I like the thought of Hartnell as someone said cause of his hair in another thread. He has the size and strength from the little I've seen he just needs to translate his game to the NHL speed.
Backlund is projecting at the same pace as Kessler without the ######baggery, I've said that for the last 2 years numerous times. I believe he breaks out next year under a bigger role.
Reinhart to me has shutdown line center written all over him, he could be that guy who plays 18 to 20 minutes slowing down the top line and making life hard for them. That's his ceiling IMO, if they ease him in right he could mature into that type of role over the rebuild. A little less offensively present as a Brandon Sutter is what I hope for.

If Sieloff could pan out to be a Orpik I would like that.
