Tomorrow's on CBC right? I hope he plays like he's on Hockey Night in Canada and forces the team to play some old school Battle of Alberta. I doubt it, but I really hope so.

Old time hockey is hard on the body. Aliu will sacrifice for the big money, otherwise he floats.

Is he going to fill Tanguay's spot?
Edit: I mean obviously not on the top line

I would guess he plays in the spot Cervenka did with Jackman and Begin. Then I expect Cervenka to slot into Tanguay's spot with Hudler & Backlund

Horak x 2
Aliu x 2
Byron
Reinhart
Street
Jones (down and back up)
Baertschi (down and back up)
All those forwards called up this year, and we will probably get a look at Hanowski as well, yet former first rounder and soon to be RFA Mr. Nemisz not getting a sniff.
Has he busted, or does he get re-signed and just needs more time?

Yeah, not looking good for Nemisz or Irving or as Moon might say, they aren't Feaster's picks so no loss.

I think Nemisz needs 'the carrot' dangled. The guy looked decent in his call-up last year, so what's the harm in bringing him up now? It does stink of Feaster writing off his predecessor's prospects.

I would have loved it if Bancks had got the call instead.

I'll speak on the second bolded part first. I watched all the games that were broadcast while Nemo was in the lineup and found myself frustrated beyond belief at his lack of positioning and very slow skating. I'm not trashing the guy as I realize we all have different opinions and can see things very differently.
As far as the carrot being dangled.. the guy saw NHL action and went back to the AHL and has looked downright awful. If he can't mentally get it together to at lease compete in a lesser league then I really don't think we should throw him back up into the NHL and hope he suddenly skates well.
The boat has sailed on Nemo. You may as well just say that Nemo got shredded up in the boat propeller. He's done.

Fair enough assessment, and his numbers surely do back you up. Nemo's negative attributes when he was drafted were his skating & his generally passive attitude. Not the best attributes to have as a burgeoning power forward. I can imagine the guy needs a lot of confidence to play an effective game, and he must feel as though he's not going to get the opportunity again.
In his call up last season he looked good on a line with Sven (in my opinion), using his size to make room for the skilled guy – something he obviously used to do when playing with Taylor Hall back in the day.
He could take a page out of Aliu's book and show a little nastiness & desire. I'm not sure if it's wise to just let him walk. Power forwards can take a long time to develop. I see no harm in giving him one last cup of coffee on the third line in the NHL.

I guess the big question going forward is whether Nemisz or an open contract spot will be more valuable to the Flames.

Nemisz is still a big body that owns board battles. Flames should be looking to teach him to be a net presence.

Could be the last kick at the can for Aliu. He did pretty well as an agitator in his last call-up, but I don't know if he's really shown enough to re-sign him.

That middle paragraph could describe Aliu to a tee but be side he is Feasters boy he still gets called up despite doing absolutely nothing to deserve it.
Hopefully he doesn't play much (or at all) as he adds nothing to the team and is about as useless as it gets.
This call-up makes no sense like most moves by the team this year.

Anybody know if Byron is still hurt? Would like to see him play in Haretly's system.

Wondering if this is an emergency recall? I like bringing in grit vs the Oilers. Hopefully Aliu brings some nastyness and fire tonight. Speaking of nasty, hoping to see Cundari soon. Sounds like he put on a show last night.
