The new format makes reading game stories enjoyable when the team is out of a playoff race. The comments about the play of our prospects and how they faired in the game is a nice change and i hope it becomes a permanent part of future stories.

I agree about your comments on Cervenka. He doesn't seem suited to the NHL style of game. The smaller ice surface and the more physical aspect of the game makes him look buttersoft.

The bolded part I think is the real issue here. I commented to my wife a few times about how easily he was pushed off the puck or simply railroaded out of the play. I don't know if he can adjust to this style of play.

The new format is great. Thanks for coming up with this Bingo.

On Cervenka, I'm in the no thanks camp. He shows flashes and definitely has skill, but I don't think he's a fit for the Flames. He'd be a good addition to an already tough team that is just looking for some skill or power play help.

Yes to Cervenka. The guy is one of the most offensively poised players I've ever seen. Bad defensively. But that is a handy tool to have in the toolbox. Especially if you're more interested in giving your youngsters experience than in winning.

I think both Toskala and Cujo were better Flames backups than MacDonald. Just my opinion, goalies are funny to call, especially when they only get a handful of games.

If Feaster does decide to bring him back I hope it's for only 1 year like they've been doing with Backlund. Let him prove himself before we give him any kind of long term deal.

Yes to Cervenka. Tough when you dont speak the language, injured to start the year and family overseas. Give him a full season and get him his wife over here as well.

Yeah, those are my thoughts but he'll probably score 30 goals for someone else. Too bad we couldn't get something of value for him.

For posters that want Cervenka back, where do you see him fitting in?

Flames only traded off 2 forwards at the deadline. Sven and Horak should be getting those spots. If they let go McGrattan and Begin they still have to replace them with 4th line players. Team also has to get grittier and bigger.

The time to trade players for picks is at the deadline. Tangs, Stajan and Stempniak would all have contracts coming back in summer trades. For Cammi to be traded the flames would have to eat at least $2 million.

Have to think that Feaster wants to get a RFA or UFA player, which takes another spot.

Don't see a spot for a soft forward like Cervenka.

I would like to see Cervenka back for one more year. Just hope Feaster doesn't give him term. I think with his move to North America, the adjustment to the NHL, language barrier and the fact that he started off hurt COULD have impacted his season. As long as it is not a term contract, then the Flames really have nothing to lose in re-signing him.

If the Flames end up moving a few more veterans in the off-season, I think Cervenka could become more worthwhile. If they don't, and end up having a couple of bodies from the draft being NHL ready, then you take a pass on Cervenka.

Cervenka deserves more than 48 games in the NHL before he gets tossed back out. Whether it is with the Flames or not is another thing though. I would like to personally see Cervenka back with the team next year but I won't grumble and moan about it if he signs elsewhere. Flames will have to figure out how they will round out their roster next year.

I have a feeling that some teams will take a flyer on Cervenka. He is not great but he has not been a liability either. It depends on the cap hit too. But I want him back for one more year. I think Hudler should step up as a veteran and make Cervenka feel he belongs to the big league.

Joey MacDonald makes me nervous. Rebound control is not very good. There were those two saves he made, the second a nice glove, in the second which were a result of a very bad failure to contain a rebound. Earlier the glove save which went off his thumb then mask. His saves described as spectacular were largely due to the Avs failing to pick their spots. He did have a nice cross crease right pad save.

Nothing went wrong tonight, it was all good. But the Flames D were playing quite a bit tougher in front and not allowing too many grade A chances, and the Avs showed the finish of a 15th place team.

He made the stops he had to, so good job. But his fundamentals are still concerning.

I'd like to see Cervenka re-signed. What's the downside?

We know Glencross is here. So many smaller wingers with some skill. Tanguay, Cammalleri, Hudler, Stempniak, Baertschi (if he sticks)... there are 6 wingers for the top 9. Does he really displace anything here if Cammalleri isn't playing C?

I don't necessarily dislike him but see the difficulty with transition to the North American game. He has shown intriguing flashes offensively. Difficult situation to assess with a team in flux in a short season.

I can't believe Horak is only 170 lbs. He's been playing a lot bigger and doesn't seem to get pushed around. Also can't believe Brodie is only 182, he looks bigger.

Sven seems to like to get physically involved. I don't know if that is a good idea or not.

Doubly damning on the panty waist vets this year if those weights are accurate.

But seriously, there is a reason small guys get sent down after a few decent games. They need their frames to withstand the rigor of the big league schedule.

The Flamess will need all the scoring help they can get next year regardless if they push for a playoff spot or go with a youth movement for a full on rebuild. I can't see a scenario where all three of Tanguay, Cammalleri or Stempniak are back in Flames colours. So I don't see a scenario where you wouldn't want to bring back Cervenka, he's played pretty well considering how much of a trainwreck the season has been for the team in general and for him.

Even with a youth movement you'll need some other options when players go cold. Although he's clearly had struggles he's been a consistent threat.

I saw him in the Safeway parking lot with his wife and baby so I am assuming she is over here.
