Or he is wishing it had been done while he was there. All the talk of different directions when he left. The team has certainly changed directions since.

I believe one of his stronger areas was working with and developing younger talent. Might have been better for him (and the team) if this had happened while he was still here.
Not meant as a knock against Hartley either.

Brent had the same problem as Keenan, the player making the big money was in charge.

Maybe a bit hasty, but was a mistake made in parting ways with Sutter in favour of Hartley? Sutter seems like the type that may have contributed positively to a rebuild environment. It always was interesting to me that the guy basically walked away from this team because he likely knew what was wrong with it.

Wasn't his departure a result of him demanding a rebuild and a gut of the ego's in the room? Basically what has happened this year?

It wasn't until mid-way through this season that the finally came face to face with the fact that it is time to rebuild. Sutter wasn't going to start the season knowing that nothing was changing.
Perhaps he was happy to stay on board if the Flames rebuild started during the off-season, or at last year's trade deadline, or perhaps he was just done with the organization.
Don't expect him to say anything earth shattering. He isn't the type to rock the boat in the media. He'll use tact.

I'm sorry Brent. How wrong i was about you. He would be a great coach to have for a rebuilding roster. Hartley doesn't fit here at all. The only positive thing his system has done for us in increase Bouw's trade value.

No way, I like Hartley way better. I think the players enjoy playing for him more and he had stifled Bouwmeester's game so the return on him would not have been the same, if movable at all. Also, look at Stajan's turnaround with a coach who uses him properly and shows confidence in him.

If it was, he should've known what he was getting into. His brother had a lot to do with the personalities in place, who contributed to that atmosphere.

Your right, Hartley is a guy who coaches winning teams with a high tempo exciting system. Seeing how we better off losing Brent would be the better coach.
Brent could not coach a stacked Canada World's team to anything either, if Hartley had coached that group they would have won it.

I obviously can't comment on what Sutter was like to play for vs. Hartley and certainly don't want to judge Bob this early on (I enjoy watching Hartley's brand of hockey more), but it simply speaks to the state of things that he left the way he did. A guy who has other sources of income available and wasn't relying on an NHL coaching gig basically got so frustrated with the stagnancy here that he finally just retreated behind a manure pile somewhere near Red Deer.

What up tempo exciting style? Allowing the Oilers to score 8 goals against you? The most excited i felt watching this team all season was the first period of the first game this season. This team is terrible defensively, Brent would not have tolerated this horrible defensive play. The fact that he was able to get three straight 90+ point seasons out of a group that should have been torn apart years ago is very impressive. I know his system is boring at times but under Hartley we are even worse. If Brent was bought back and Hartley was fired then i wouldn't be upset at all.

Brent Sutter sure didn't maximize value among his players, but he got them more win's/point's then they deserved. Anyone who watched the team the past year or two could tell they were far worse then they showed in the standings. So, I'm fine he's gone as Hartley has (a) raised player trade value, and (b) finally sunk the Flames into the basement of the NHL so we're forced to rebuild and get a draft pick.
It will be interesting to see what he says, though..... I have a feeling the gloves will come off. I would also love to see why Dave Lowry, when asked to come back as he was groomed for the job and a former Flames captain, declined the invitation and didn't want to be a part of the Flames organization anymore. I thought that was a quite damning and went relatively un-noticed.
(also helped me win a bet with Bertuzzied)

Whatever the Bruins scored 9 goals on us when Brent was in charge. Brent coached a boring style and also took a team that was 5 years straight in the playoffs to 3 straight misses. Remember it how you want but this team was falling apart no matter who coached it. Brent saw that at the end of last season which is why he mutually parted ways with the team.
Brent had this team in the bottom 5-10 in the standings after 35 games a couple of times and was the coach during a 9 game losing streak. On top of that letting 8 in against the Oilers the day of trade deadline with your starting goalie, franchise player, and top Dman recently traded is not surprising. Do you think the players had the game on their mind that day? They all thought they were getting moved

Brent sure seems to have a lot to say about the Flames.
Maybe he wants back in.
