Vice. Ice cold. My favourite bit:

Now there's a lockout shortened season, so the Oilers "brain trust" will have turned the first two cheapo seasons of Highly Touted Future Superstar Ryan Nugent-Hopkins into a maximum of 110 NHL games (probably even less) and almost surely no playoff berths.
I love Vice.

There's some fantastic journalism. Vice? What?

This is written by Thomas Drance, a Canucks blogger, and one of the more accomplished stats nerds writing for the Nation and NHLNumbers. Why he decided to do a troll hit piece on the oilers, I am unclear. Perhaps I shall ask him.

For hits I assume, which I am glad to give them. Vice is an awesome magazine/website but like a lot of sites they do these fluff troll pieces from time to time if they need to drum up some controversial discussion and get the visitor count up. I just thought this was an amusing one.

I do have to partially agree that the Eberle hype machine is getting out of hand. Yes we all know he's a good player, but TSN is making him sound like the next Mario.

Okay, hold the F on. I am fully on board with the notion that Eberle is being overhyped and should by no means have been top 30 on TSN's list. But if I have faith in anyone's ability to step up in a big game on that Oiler team it's Eberle.

I kinda get what he is saying...Eberle is so hyped it will be hard for him to live up. Also, if they want to win these guys need to be more responsible defensively...numbers will go down

I can see why he's been hyped up a lot. The guy scored all of those big goals in the world juniors. But out of all of the "superstars" has been the most proven in the NHL. 34 goals, 76 points last season, two points under a PPG pace. I'd take him on the flames in a heartbeat.

I also kind of agree with the article about RNH. To be fair to the greasers, they probably didn't expect to finish 2nd last, but the reality is, they did, and they wasted a year of RNH. They also screwed up by putting him in when he wasn't physically ready to handle it yet. I'm not a doctor, but it always seems like once you injure a shoulder, it's going to make it easier to re-injure it in the future. If he gets rocked with a big hit this year, he could be out again pretty quick.

pretty bad article even if I like the message he is trying to get across. Glad a Nucks fan wrote it and not a Flames fan
