The Kipper No Trade Rumor
CP seems to be pretty split over the Non-Trade.
A lot of people, including myself blamed Kipper for "Giving Himself a NTC" I admit that I think we jumped the gun.
We honestly don't know who initiated the rumor last week that he would retire if traded.
But can we at least agree that, while Mikka, or Feaster, or anyone else close to the situation may not be responsible for any of this, "The Rumor" itself has potentially cost the Flames a draft pick.
I know a lot of you are saying that he always intended to retire after this season. And that may have been the case, but I think its safe to assume that more than a few GMs balked at the idea of even attempting to sign him as a rental because of the uncertainty caused by this rumor.
Now this being said, who else thinks that the current state of Social Media, and its global reach has changed the face of sports contracts, and transactions in relation to how deals like this were done 10 years ago.
For example, look at how quiet today's Trade Deadline has been. Are the days of mid-season tinkering the way things used to happen 5-10 years ago gone?
