Thanks for reminding me bluloc.

Things were supposed to be different, but something went horribly wrong that year. Too bad it did not work out, but I and i'm sure others took pleasure in watching your smooth skating.
Gluck!

He played great this year. I wish it worked out here with him, he's a really good defenseman when he wants to be. Haven't seen a defenseman skate that smoothly... ever.
Good luck JayBo, here's to you finding success in St. Louis!

Not too sad for some reason on this one.

Jay Bouwmeester's stint as a Flame will go down as one of this organization's biggest UFA flops of all time.

Didn't hit expectations, but he was always one of our better D-men despite what people think.

If he get paired with Peterangelo or Shattenkirk next trade line we might get one of these guys back for a high 2nd round pick.
Thank goodness Bouwmeester got sent out of town before he ruined Gio's and/or Brodie's career.
He appears to be the absolute worst guy to play with.

The year Jbo came here this is what we iced:
moss-olli-ignla
dawes-langkow-borque
glencross-conroy-boyd
sjostrom-nystrom-prust
Regher-Phaneuf
Gio-Jbo
Pardy-kronwall
The defence looked like the best.
The line up great....... But i'll never forgive sutter for signing Dawes over Bertuzzi.

I expect him to bounce back with St. Louis and play at a high level like he had in his Panthers days. I do think he's weak mentally, so a small market team like the Blues will help him stay focused. Bouwmeester-Pietrangelo is by far the best defense pairing in the league.

Was never a Bouwmeester hater, still think that they never used him quite right until this season.
Very interested to see how he reacts being thrown into Hitchcock's highly structured system while in the middle of a tight playoff race.

Interesting though that he cost us no assets and returned a middle first round pick. I guess not all was lost.

Jay was a flop for the most part here. Heartless, no emotion, and easy to play against. Luckily, Feaster struck while the iron is hot and we have another 1st rounder. No way in hell we get that return last season.

i really hope jbo finds his place and plays to his potential.
I don't think i can remember a guy wiht so much natural talent, that just can't put it together to be all that he can be.
that being said, his time in calgary was pretty 'meh', and am glad he's gone. He needs to be a secondary peice, not a core go-to guy.

Weren't we the best team in the division prior to signing Jbo?
And didn't we trade Phaneuf because he became expendable since we had Bouwmeester?
Basically Bouwmeester ruined this team.

Thought I saw a tweet earlier stating they were holding a press conference for him this morning. The guy could barely speak a word at times.

The emergence of Gio made phaneuf expendable.

Bouwmeester actually cost us the rights to Leopold and a third round pick. We traded for Bouwmeester's rights before we signed him.

I will miss JBo. I know I'm in the minority, but I really liked what he did out there. He logged a ton of minutes and played against the other team's best lines. Brent really shackled him on how much he could pinch and move up in the play. We saw this year how much he can help out offensively when he's allowed, with 6 goals in 33 games. That puts him on pace for 15, which is what he had the last two years in Florida.
I wish things had gone differently the last 3.5 years, but that's more of an organizational thing, than specifically at Bouwmeester. I wish him well and I hope he rises back to the level that most people expected him to be. He's taken a lot of crap from fans, most of which was not deserved. We saw how bad this team can be defensively in the first game without him.

Honestly part of me feels bad for the guy. I think he's genuinely a really nice guy - probably too nice to be as good a NHL dman as possible. He was roasted for being a terrible interview, too passive and the like - but that's probably just who he is.
He chose to come here over anywhere else and it didn't work out. That sucks for everyone.

Good Luck Jay! And by that I mean either narrowly make the playoffs this year and lose in the first round, or miss the playoffs and tank next year.
