Saw this on twitter yesterday evening.

They found it in a cave, aka: a bug hole. What do we do to bug holes? NUKE 'EM!

This thing is the bloody raptor equivalent of a spider.

That is one crazy looking spider. Think I'll cancel any spelunking plans I might have had.

Not just a new species, but a whole new family. This is a very significant distinction. New arachnid species are classified all the time (just the other day Sir David Attenborough had one named after him), but new families are only discovered a few times a century.

And "Trogloraptor" is the best name, ever. I can't wait for the SiFi Channel movie.

I was a bit nervous, until I saw the size of it. It's only the size of a US half-dollar.

That just means that they can go undetected and crawl into your inner ear that much easier.

And then claw at your brain.

No problem, until a million of them show up at your house.

I agree.

Spiders are pretty cool even though they make a lot of people go crazy.

Hate spiders. Didn't click the link. Won't regret it for a second. Perfectly fine not knowing what evil lurks in Oregon caves.

Well, at least it was found in a SW Oregon cave. Just got back from camping in Central Oregon and we hit a few caves while we were there. To anyone saying nuke the state, can you at least give me some warning?
