Default Ads on CP on iphone impacting views

Just wondering if anyone else is seeing this, or has a recommendation how to avoid it

I use an iPhone to look at CP in general

Seems lately, the ads are appearing and the page shifts position as they are getting themselves sorted, sometimes resizes if I’ve zoomed in.
The ads expand / get bigger at times and occupy a big chunk of the screen, and are a nuisance to get rid of, but mainly it’s the experience of the page

I tried using a popup blocker, Blockbear, but it doesn’t seem to address whatever is going on

Anyone else encountering this? Seems recent and it is annoying enough to ask about it. Suggestions?

I just refresh like crazy until it goes away.
Super annoying, happy to help pay for the server with ads, but its pretty obnoxious.

It's been discussed on the last few pages of this thread in the help subforum since mid-December, not a lot of traction there though. Sometimes that's how she goes boys, it could be worse right? No autoplay videos in the corner of the screen yet like the websites being bled dry by hedge funds so there's always that.

When I get a larger ad, there is a little down arrow top left of the ad that I just have to hit, and then it reduces down to a normal size. Is that not what others are getting?

Use a different browser on your iPhone. I know the following browsers with ad blocking that work decently well on iPhone without going so far that some pages are broken (ie: script blocking).

- Brave
- Firefox
- Firefox focus
- Chrome
- Opera

It may mean that you occasionally have to click Twitter links (pops up in new tab) and won't be able to see them on the same browser page. All 4 do well to block the ads, but I think both Firefox blocks Twitter links from popping up like an image, but Opera, Chrome and Brave do not.

EDIT: I just tried CP on iPhone Safari. WTF. You guys tolerate viewing webpages like that???? Swap browsers. Any of the above 5 are vastly better for CP. No idea on the experiences for other websites, but should still easily be better than Safari.

That's what I see most of the time and it's easy enough to click.

However, when I'm zoomed in, sometimes the arrow goes away and I can't find it again without a page refresh.

Safari has ad blockers and they get rid of all the terrible ads. You don’t have to switch browsers. They’re so bad it’s the only way.

The colon is not designed for an Apple to go in from the south.

Is this actual truth for your situation or am I reading the sarcasm correctly? I just double checked my Safari settings and popup blocking is on... except there's still visible ads on multiple websites. It feels a little bit like the intrusive pop ups from the Geocities era.

TBH for the average person, it's just easier and faster to just hop into the app store and download a new browser than figure out where to go to check out the settings. Not to mention for Opera for instance, it has ChatGPT built in (Aria) and then I can use it within the app without having to install a separate app just for ChatGPT.

Thanks for the reminder. Finally was about to jump ship on Tapatalk and use the new app, but your comment reminded me I pay a small annual fee for the deluxo version...can't bail on all them gifs/memes I get from here! (and no ads of course)

Someone brought it up in a game thread the other day and Bingo got mad at them

It always happens to me where I am on my mobile device and am about to click on a thread, then the screen suddenly shifts just as I tap because an ad opens up, and I end up tapping on someone's username to see their profile. Then I get worried that they might think I am creeping on them and it feels awkward.

You don’t even need to switch browsers. Every browser has free extensions available that safely and effectively block ads with zero impact on your experience.

I guess... If someone knows how to do settings and extensions on their own, great.

But someone who doesn't (ie: likely those living with the ads), odds are that it'd be easier to advise them to just install an alternative browser than the effort of walking them through how to change settings and install extensions etc.

It’s literally as easy as downloading a new browser. There’s nothing to figure out.

EDIT: On ios at least
