The Ducks have agreed to terms with right wing Corey Perry on an eight-year contract extension. Perry, a 2007 Stanley Cup champion and 2010 Olympic gold medalist, is now under contract with the Ducks through the 2020-21 NHL season. Per club policy, no financial terms of the deal were disclosed.

Why bother not releasing financial terms in a cap world? Just to annoy people?

Terms are the same as the Getzlaf deal. 8 years, 66 million. 8.25m/per.
edit - apparently not, he got even more. O.o

If you're a fan of the Flames trading Iginla, this is good news, as he remains the biggest Forward prize on deadline day.

Getz at 8.25 mil. Perry at 7 would be good. More than that on a winger gets risky.

@DownGoesBrown So now anyone looking for a trade deadline power forward turns to… [everyone looks at the Flames]. Jay Feaster (genuinely confused): “What?”

Ducks not a cap team, so I understand it. Perry is popular in Anaheim, sells tickets, helps win games, which is what the market needs.

I didn't think they could pull it off but props the Murray. It's a lot of money but they will always be competitive as long as they have both players. It will hurt them when it comes to keeping some other players but you probably treat that as the lesser evil.
