The Hurricanes and Rangers are in overtime now. The single point puts Carolina up two places into sixth spot in the east or even third place as they have the tie breaker over the Jets in the Southeast division.

The Lightning win 4-2. Purcell scores the winner midway through the third period, Stamkos with the empty net goal. Chicago has a 3-1 lead midway through the second period.

Wild just made it 3-1 in Van.

Ballard isn't very good at hockey

Maybe just me but i want Vancouver to win this game. Better chance that Minny slides down than Vancouver.

The wild are probably not going to pick up anybody at the deadline, so this will be their team for the year.

I see Vancouver trading a 1st and propsect to get help to make sure they make the playoffs. They might even trade Schneider if they have to.

It's looking more and more like the only spot that will be open will be 8th. Not good for the flames considering how many teams they have to jump.

I don't know if they'll miss out, but they are looking like they will be a 7-8 seed if they do make it in.

Yeah I agree, the Wild are more likely to falter. However, I enjoy it more when Van falters.

Both teams are 5 games over 500 going in though, so I doubt either one is catchable anyway.

Minnesota showing the kind of grit I would hope to see on this team and also playing good hockey, not the old boring ####. Good for them.

I felt the Canucks started their downturn late last season but I thought they would be better than this. Still enough games for them to ensure a playoff spot but I don't know if starting the playoffs on the road is a good situation for them. The roster sure has eroded over the past few years from where it was against the Bruins in the Stanley Cup finals but you could see this coming as too many Canucks all had their career years in a two year span now they are all trending down to career normal levels which while not bad doesn't make them stand out against other elite teams. Gillis may have to give up on his misguided quest of fetching a big return on Luongo. His ego is getting in the way of the team's success.

Also has an assist too. If LA was "show casing" him, they might have decided they should really hold onto him instead.

Stamkos with his 200th tonight.

He is the 4th fastest in league history to hit that mark, behind Gretzky, Lemieux and Hawerchuk, who all did it in the 80s.

Very impressive.

What a shot to. Watched the game, he was impressive all night. LA would be stupid to trade him straight up for Iggy.

only just turned 23, think he has a somewhat decent chance at catching Gretzky
