Default Is the Ference hit suspendable?

I think since he didn't get a penalty on the play he will probably get a game.

Of course it is. Will it result in a suspension? Who knows, if Taylor Hall two hand hacking someone in the legs doesn't get one for a team out of it in the regular season, it's unlikely this does in the playoffs.

Without a doubt. It is a clear shot to the head.

Should be 1 game minimum.

I don't think there was any intention to target the head there. Intention isn't everything, so he might get one game, but I don't think that he should. 2 minute penalty would have been good.

It will be interesting to see how Shanny verbally breaks this hit down.

Did Ference upper forearm/elbow contact Grab's face yes.
Did he line him up No. Watch it real time not getting stuck on the slow mo.
Ference reacted on the spot to what was going to likely be a collision.
Did Ference blind side him No.
Did Grab dip his head down just as the the hit came not really but he was leaning down which is normal because he was rounding the corner after the puck.

I don't think it should be a suspension and there was no penalty so Shanny can't say that the ref issued a 2 min elbowing and Grab continued to play the rest of the game. So neither reasoning can be used against Ference.

If Ference stalked Grab then that would change things but he didn't. It was a collision.

Wish they suspended players on intent and not whether the opposing player gets injured or not.

The Leafs lead the league in fights and penalty minutes. They boast about "truculence".

The playoffs are rougher. Prove it.

It is a clear hit with intent to the head, absolutely.

Regardless of whether the elbow will earn a suspension, I had a good chuckle at Ference's what hit? comments to the media after the game. Made me want him back in Calgary again.

So glad we picked up that wallflower in Stuart. One of Sutter's most under appreciated terrible moves.

I'm a big Andy Ference fan, but that was a clear shot to the head and deserves at least a 1 game suspension IMO.

Give him 1 game for sure. Nobody should get away with that.

I'm still upset about Bieksa on Stajan.

It had the opposite effect on me, if he would have said it was an accident or unintentional that would have been a lot better than coming off as a smug d-bag. I lost a lot of respect for Ference after seeing that.

Ference has a history of garbage like this. Loved him as a Flame but he needs to sit.

2011 playoffs, wasn't suspended...
