Hi all, well I am visiting town here for the time being with my cousin and his fiance (till the 15th), since my cousins fiance just gave birth to their newborn Wed night here in Calgary. We are from the US, but stopped by in Calgary for a bit to see some relatives, obviously things got a bit delayed with the recent events, so we have to stay a bit longer than we were expected.
So here I am, all this time on my hands LOL, no clue what to do. Obviously the talk of the town is the stampede. What is the Stampede like? Is it any good? Tommorow I heard there is a breakfast at the Chinook Shopping centre?
Just browsing "Calgary forums" in google, and this is what I found. Looks like a nice community!
Talk to you all soon, and happy stampeding!

Sure, why not. Your here during Stampede, makes more sense to go to that then the zoo.

Just make sure you check IDs... I think we have the most scantily clad children outside of the third world.

Well if you go down to the grounds then you will see the gaudiest, lame, money grubbing, small town fair with ugly carnies, belligerant teenager, drunken redneck and gambling addict display of groundhog day repeating crap.
I like the Stampede part that is away from that shinguardshow, the relaxed atmosphere all week, lots of tourists, drinking before 9:00 am at service company 'breakfasts', chuckwagons on tv, lame newscasters pretending they are 'in to it'. [/b][/quote]
fotze, you are fataing hilarious!

ha - i think calgary may play second fiddle to small-town bc.
nothing like 16-year-old girls trying to turn the heads of 40-year-old welders.
jeez, i've lived in towns that had to institute day care at the high school so that girls would go!

I went to Coyotes last night. Aside from the $15 cover to get in, it was tons of fun. There was a wide mix of people from old business men and women, to young girls (yes in tight jeans and skirts). DJ Rice you should go to some bars (assuming you are of age) around town and or the beer gardens on the Stampede grounds its a good time.
