Happy they got the win but sad at the same time as they aren't going to make the playoffs and Flames ownership/management has shown before that if the Flames are on the bubble they will make the wrong decision at the trade deadline.

Yes, the Flames have been mostly healthy. But the injuries to Kipper and Backlund were huge. Both are holes that we have difficulty filling. Good to have both back.

Need more details of the first period, as thanks to TSN I did not get to see it.

You didn't miss much that you would like. The first period was a disaster for the Flames, they were very opportunistic on those 2 goals (one off a Detriot foot and other off a broken play at the blue line).

There was a point of 3 straight minutes that the Flames were hemmed in.

I think you downplayed the goalie duel a lot. If the goalies had been reversed, this was another Boston Massarce. It is a tragedy Kiprusoff wasn't your first star.

That post can go in any thread, curious how this one was chosen. Primed canvas I suppose

Strange post. I wasn't aware there was a CP CSI investigating post intentions.

The Flames play much better when there is nothing at stake.

This was as meaningless game that Flames have played since the meaningless 2 game winning streak to close out 2011-12.

The Flames went into the game in 15th place and and are now tied for 14th with the team that could have had the Flames 2013 #1 and #3 draft choice .

Since the boost that the Flames gave Colorado by getting O'Rielly back on the ice has had the Avalanche go 2-3-1. Feaster was making a run for 8th spot this year at the cost of a future 3 year top 5 draft pick EL contract.

I came away from that game thinking there is no way Detroit is going anywhere if they do make the playoffs. They just looked like they would rather have been anywhere else doing something else for a living. They gave the game to the Flames on a platter.

Wings are like the Stars to me. The Flames have played both teams twice (won all four) and both of those teams looked terrible in all four games mostly dominated by the Flames outscoring them both 20-10. Then you look at the standings and wonder how they can be in or near the playoffs while the Flames are at the bottom of the standings.

I tend to blame it on better teams starting their backups, and some of their players taking the night off.

Good write up. I loved the part where you mentioned the Wings were 0/37 on the road PP and they were due for a break. I even yelled at my TV that the streak ends tonight, and low and behold it happened .
