We better not lose him for nothing. He's not talking extension and King's talking about how much they've invested in him? What is wrong with this team?

Without clicking the link, I thought this was about the Flames signing Iginla to an extension. Glad there are no negotiations. If the owners are dumb enough to not trade Iginla for assets, then they have betrayed the fan base.

King and Feaster have said numerous times they want to resign him. The ball is in Iggy's court. And the situation is set for us to lose him for nothing.
That article is eerily similar to the discussion we had on this subject in the "trade speculation" thread just a couple of days ago. I think Francis is stealing our material.

Don Meehan, Iginla's agent, feeding Francis info to put pressure on the Flames.
Stop the presses.
Not sure how telling the Sun that negotiations aren't happening puts pressure on the Flames. Especially considering the Flames have said they are very willing to sign him.

Agreed. Meehan said he's waiting to hear from Iginla to see where they go from here. Sounds more like Iginla isnt sure he wants to re-sign.
So many years or rumors bouncing around I wouldn't be surprised if Iginla is seriously considering whether it would be nice to end up somewhere like the Penguins who obviously have a solid chance to win.Might be his last crack as an UFA and even a guy like Brodeur still entertained offers in what was probably his last crack at being an UFA.
There was a few shots of iginla during the kings game that he was visably frustrated, and it seemed like it was the team he was frustrated with (doughty does get iginla into the game though... )
It woudn't suprise me at all if Iginla was giving very serious consideration to leaving. I have no question Iginla loves Calgary but I also think he loves to win just as much and I think he probably sees what everyone, except apparantly Flames management, see and that is a not very good team with no potential to really get better in the next couple seasons. I think people overrate Iginla's desire to stay in Calgary I think its always been a combination of him loving living in Calgary but also able to win. During the 03/04 season, prior to the playoffs, whenever Iginla talked about his expiring contract he took a very "it's business" approach to being asked about leaving and never gave you the feeling he would stay at all costs and I don't think that has changed. As long as Iginla thinks that Flames can win he will be open to staying and I think with no negotiations over the summe thats a pretty clear sign to me is he wanted to see what Feaster was planning for this season and what type of impact Hartley would have.

The ball is in Iginla's court, but our management has to put some pressure on him at some point. The trade deadline is in 3 weeks - you have to had a good idea of whether he's staying or not before then otherwise they're simply not doing their job. Like was said in the article, the Flames basically have to make their decision on Iginla in 1-2 weeks from now to give themselves time to negotiate a trade (given how much say Iginla will have in where he goes) and considering the Flames and Iginla haven't talked I don't know how there's even time anymore.
A team like the Flames simply can't afford to lose Iginla for nothing even if his value is deflated over what it would've been a year or two ago.

I'd say pressuring the Flames would be saying that Iggy wants to stay, but both sides have talked and are far apart. Not sure how revealing that there hasn't even been negotiations and how Meehan is waiting for Iginla's input on how proceed puts any pressure on the Flames.

Everyone is reading too much into that clip. They were getting blown out, he's obviously going to be frustrated.
