JOB OVERVIEW
Reporting to the Manager, Natural Gas Accounting in Suncor's marketing business, you will work closely with key individuals in the Front, Middle and Back Offices to ensure the current and evolving accounting needs of the business are being met. You will work with the existing natural gas supply and trading business and take end to end ownership of processes, while maintaining a view of the bigger picture.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES- Take ownership of key aspects in the Origination process to ensure information is received, assessed for reasonableness, accurately captured in customer statements and that appropriate customer payments are made within the time constraints inherent in the industry settlement cycle
- Act as a key contact and take a leading role in resolving any customer issues
- Work with the Front and Mid Offices to ensure all natural gas related transactions have been completely and accurately captured for reporting and invoicing purposes
- Be engaged and knowledgeable regarding the Alberta and BC gas markets, working directly with the Front Office Origination team to drive value and monitor initiative returns
- Perform month end analysis, both at a detailed level and on a high level basis to ensure the reasonableness of the relevant financial results and ensuring high service levels for internal and external customers
- Ensure Back Office systems and processes are appropriate for purpose, properly documented, monitored and improved
- Perform ad hoc analysis to address business or Finance requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:- University degree or diploma in Accounting
- An accounting designation or enrolled in a program and actively working towards a designation (CA, CMA, CGA)
- Minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in relevant accounting, settlements or marketing operations roles
Skills and Knowledge:- Proficiency with MS Excel 2010, including pivot table functionality
- SAP accounting system or Commodity XL (CXL) trading system knowledge would be an asset
- A background in natural gas trading and marketing required
- Strong accounting skills would be advantageous
- A self-starter with the ability to take initiative and to work with minimal supervision
- Strong analytical, interpretive and communication skills
- An ability to prioritize work, to manage priorities and to deliver quality work
