Default Weight loss thread

Inspired by our fellow CP'er who's lost a tonne of weight I've decided to make this thread, but, a more general thread everyone can get involved in about weight loss and such.

I've lost 22 lbs so far since early March and now I'm trying out some interval training tonight.. just a fancy way of saying I'm going to run, then walk, then run, and so on.

Anyways, for healthier eating, weight loss, excercise (cardio), and weight training let's chat that stuff up here, yes?

I lost 50 lbs over the last year. I bought an exercise bike and and chin up bar and rode the bike while playing video games everyday. And started eating a lot better.

I lost 21 lbs (and counting) since last august and recovered from a knee injury. I am able to play soccer without a knee brace and able to keep up with faster players.

I tried some interval training tonight. Whoa it kicked my ass. Can that concept be applied to anything?

Good on ya! Keep up the good work!

Likewise, I have just started getting back to the gym this week. I've been making improvements in my diet over the past month so I'm getting into a groove.

I tried the chick pee diet and lost 30 pounds in 2 weeks. Highly recommended.

all i did was ride the bike for 30 min (or 3 games of COD with "sprints" between games haha) and max chin ups a couple times. I started barely being able to do 3 full chin ups now I do 2 or 3 sets of 10 with sit ups in between and 45 min on the bike.

Just as a note. I wasn't really THAT out of shape. I played hockey at pretty high levels all through childhood but was always kind of chunky. I was 6'0" 225 at one point. I'm not sure what I was when I started working out but I'm at 175 now.

I lost 70 lbs. last year, gained back about 8-10 over the winter and have lost another 5 since being able to get out for several 60K rides on my bike over the past few weeks. Part of my weight gain was from p90X as I gained some muscle through weights and last year's weight loss was pure cardio.

I hope to lose about 15-20 this summer from where I am now so I will be around -160-165 at 5'8.

15 pounds in the last year. Doesn't sound like much, but I didn't need much and ended packing on some decent muscle.

25 lbs. since 2/22.

My wife and I finally bit the bullet and went to the weight management clinic at the local hospital. We had full physicals, and had some tests done to determine our resting metabolic rate (+/-2700 for me).

We were given a calorie limit to stick to (2000 for me/1700 for her), as well as the recommendation of taking 10,000 steps per day. We use the Myfitnesspal.com app on our smartphones to log whatever we eat during the day.

I rarely make the step count, but I don't wear a pedometer when I jog. I'm training for my first 5K May 15th using the Couch to 5K program.

I lost 70 pounds in 2 months, all it took was me getting sick. I wouldn't recommend this route but I do enjoy the lost weight.

Sorry dude but that's because the first 5-7 pounds were mostly water and food that was stuck in your system. Ever notice the 3-5 pound difference in your weight when you just wake up in the morning to when you're just finished a big meal?

Most people when they start a diet don't really think about that. Long story short, it might seem like it's slowed down but you're probably still killing the same amount of fat tissue as you were a month ago.

46 lbs between last April and now.My BMI went from 27.7 to 21.3. Did it mostly by calculating BMR (using an internet calculator), counting calories using the LoseIt! app on my iPhone, and running about 5km 3 times a week on a treadmill. A very tech based solution!

I don't count calories anymore, but it helped me generate habits on proper diet.

Since my peak weight loss, i've also cut down on the cardio, keeping it mostly to playing hockey once or twice a week, and now I spend most of my time at the gym lifting weights. Nothing too extreme, about 30 minutes 3 times a week. It's been enough to keep the weight off.

My food tips: lots of water, soup, fruit and veggies! Also flax seed and whole grains. Also keep a tab on your sauces, it's amazing how quick those calories add up!!! Same goes for liquid calories. I rarely ever drink any type of juice or pop now. If you're looking for lazy quick meals, healthy choice steamers are pretty good. (probably not the healthiest way of going about doing it, but they're easy and keep the calories down)

Anyone got any tips on getting rid of stretch marks? Someone suggested bio oil and i've been using it since January, but haven't really noticed a difference.

I'm down 29 since feb. 7th. Half way to goal weight, myfitnesspal has helped me a lot. But I bust ass at the gym, I burnt almost 900 calories today on a slow cardio day.

Interval training is awesome to get your cardio stronger. When I started I was struggling to run a min straight, now I'm almost at 10 straight flat out running in 2 months.

Also, it's too late for me now, but if any of you are changing weight drastically and have an iPhone 4, look into the app called "everyday". It reminds you to take a picture of your face every day, and then makes a film of it! Those are the types of nerdy things that keep me motivated, I figure a bunch of people on the internet might be similar.

lol ive been doing that wiht my web camera.

whts really awesome is making new notches in your belt cuz its too big.. and seeing your shirts fit looser.. pants become clown like.. all little by little.

i feel really motivated and think that just by counting calories.. watching my simple carb intake... i can keep this new lifestyle for the rest of my life.

its been 37 days tho, so, ill talk more when its day 100 lol.

Bio Oil doesn't seem to do anything for me either. I have been using it for about 2 months on a scar, and it hasn't diminished at all. If you can, I would (and am) just talk to a doctor about what you can do. I scoured the internet, and here are a few suggestions:

http://www.howtogetridofstuff.com/he...stretch-marks/

I've got some ugly ones that will need some attention.

Anyway, I have lost 41 pounds since January 17th. Low calorie diet, quality multi-vitamins, and simple weight training and cardio exercises (alternating each day) 6 days a week. Someone said it in another thread, it is just as simple as burning more fuel than you are putting into your body.

Not going into detail this time, though.
