Default Winnipeg Hockey Dad Banned From Rinks

Was suprised not to find anythign here - if I missed it, sorry.
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manito...-outburst.html

A few parents fighting at a hockey game, one gets banned and can't attend his son's games now.

Makes me scared for the future, as I'm sure to be a hockey parent at some point.

what a winner that guy sounds like...

Here is something from the comments section about him.
"This is the same guy who fired an employee in '03 @ a pizza joint in Selkirk who decided to run out and help a person outside who just got shot!

"We feel just as bad as the next guy but we don't pay employees to be EMTs, which she isn't," Jason Boyd, a supervisor at Frank's Pizza in Selkirk, told a local newspaper last week. "She wasn't dismissed because she was at the shooting scene," he said. "She was away from her job for no good reason."

Most people would have given her a medal and a raise!"

Guy sounds like a total D-bag, calling another parents kid a midget and apparently insulted other parents as well. Not sure why this would make you scared to be a hockey parent, it's great that they are banning him so he can't torment more parents just there to enjoy watching their kids play and encourage them.

My son's coach had to write all the parents reminding us not to yell at the refs, and not to interfere at the bench. Why are some parents so wound-up about a division six atom game?

Because their son needs more ice time if he is to make the NHL.

that is because they are one step away from atom 5........

anywyas, for all we know this is a one time incident (despite what was written in the comments section).......people do make mistakes.

if this is how he is regularly at minor hockey games then that would be sad.

The guy taunts a kid, then threatens people for asking him not to. He's a POS and doesn't deserve to watch his son's games.

Apparently, that is actually a true story as per this link:

A life-long complete jerk.

He deserves the public humiliation. A great example of "what goes around, comes around."

Makes me scared to be a hockey parent because there are enough people out there like this that they feel parents need sensitivity training to try and stop it. While this situation seems to have been handled well, many aren't.

Just makes me nervous about being able to stay out of those types of situations.

People like this were my favorite as a rink rat, being escorted out of a building by a 5'7 14 year old back in the day had to look pretty lame. I loved every moment of singleing out D-bag parents at work.....

When did my father move to Winnipeg? All kidding aside this happens way too much for kids hockey. At my brothers tournament one year a parent cheered his kid after a brutal hit from behind that knocked a kid out. There was a 10 year old laying on the ice in pain and this guy is giving it to the other parents. Just glad it wasn't my brother else I would have been banned from the games and probably taken away in cuffs. These parents are just trying to live a dream they never could themselves. Pathetic people really.

There's absolutely no room for people like this in minor hockey. What's weird though is of the 5 players i know who have made it to the NHL, 4 of their parents were probably just as bad if not worse than this guy.

Amonte wasn't allowed in the rink to watch his kids play when he was here. His son was AAA on the same team as one of my teammates kids.

calling a little kid a midget is pretty odd.

Apparently he owns a pizza shop just outside of Winnipeg:
