Default Western Canada High School was on lock down today

One of the city’s largest high schools had to be locked down on Friday, due to a threat. It happened just before noon at Western Canada High School on 17 Ave. S.W.
Police rushed to the school to investigate, while students were kept safe in their classrooms.
What I'm hearing on twitter is bomb threat, but that doesn't really make sense since the students were told to stay in their classrooms.

We had a bomb threat at our school and they told everyone to stay put, probably not a bad idea to avoid a ton of chaos if they're not sure exactly what they're dealing with. Call in a bomb threat, then start mowing down kids as they run out, etc.

I would guess if they were sheltering in place for a bomb threat, the threat was probably nearby but not in the school itself.

We had a bomb threat at Bowness High and the school was evacuated. After being outside for an hour they let us go home. This was pre Columbine, so maybe that had something to do with it.

We had a few bomb threats at Lindsay Thurber (Red Deer) when I was going through HS. Told us stay home on the one day, and had to leave the other day.

No, nor is Canada my country of origin either. But I think it's a valid point; no need to evacuate the building and cause a stir if it's not warranted.
