Ducks If Perry Goes UFA - Yes/No? At What Price?

The rumor mill suggests that the Ducks will sign Getz, and leave Perry on the outside. If he goes UFA, what would you pay the former MVP, 50 goal scorer, 27 year old?
Eight million? Can he be a franchise guy?
Center piece or a sidekick to the superhero?

don't think Flames could attract him, but he should pull in atleast 8 mil

He will be a franchise player though, already scoring huge and is a monster. The guy gets on my nerves but he is effective as hell.

No thanks. Especially not at 8 million plus per year.

Perry is a great talent but in my opinion is a second option and not a franchise player.

If he's leaving Anaheim it'll be for Ottawa.

Under the new rules Id give him whatever the new maxis...7 years for $7.5 million per year. Instantly becomes the teams best player and a huge core piece going forward.

Big, great 2 way game, hard to play against, always drives the net, pretty healthy player (hasn't missed too many games over his career) and can either be a sniper or play maker.

I believe he wants to go back east with Toronto and Ottawa the most likely of destinations. The only way the Flames would have even a shot is if much like with Richards they offered more than everyone else and as we saw that may not even be enough.

Perry is awesome but he's also playing with one of the best true centres in the league. That helps.

If you could, I'd toss 8.5 per for a longer term to both Perry and Getzlaf and see if you can get both.

I'd rather spend 8 million on a #1 Centre

I would like to see the flames draft, devolve and retain their own talent, rather than keep making hail mary attempts at signing over priced UFA's. You know, like every other team seems to do.

That doesn't need to be mutually exclusive. It's not like Perry/Getzlaf are 32 and trending down. Both are in their prime and can be effective players for the next 7-10 years.

Thread should have a poll I'd be interesting in seeing what people think. I say no, price is probably going to be too high.
