Default craziest buzzer beater ever?

http://www.thebiglead.com/index.php/...his-one-video/

Hilarious seeing both teams celebrating.

Why is the Mount Vernon guy making a pass?

/Fix was in.

Lol,maybe.

I think it was more a premature celebration toss to his teammate. A lot of improbability in that last minute, considering they were down by ten with a minute tp go and to score like that with. .1 seconds left.

Wow, what an improbable finish. That's the cool thing about basketball - there's always someone who screws up by either missing their matchup and it ends up with some crazy finish like that. Very cool.

From goat to hero in 2.8 seconds.

Can't believe the Mt. Vernon player threw the ball up like that. What a gift.

I'd like them to go back on replay to check when the clock started on the initial inbounds pass. Just seemed that the sequence was longer than 2.9 seconds.

That's just ridiculous. That mount vernon team was in Edmonton in December for a tourney...they're good.

The #20 kid for Vernon was a total bonehead. Just hold the ball instead of being a hotdog and tossing the ball up in the air, would have been Gameover.

Clock doesnt start until someone touches the pass, so seems about right.

Oh I know that, but he got that off with barely 0.1, closer to 0.05 left...if the time keeper was that much slower starting the clock on the inbound pass on contact (or of course, at some point over the course of the game) then it wouldn't count.

Just doing it with my stopwatch, I consistently get around 3.0-3.1. Given that the 2.9 could have actually been 2.99 for all we know from this video, that's around .1-.2 seconds error or less. For highschool ball, I think that's about as accurate as you can possibly hope for, though you're technically right, it seems to take a little longer than 2.9.

Also, this reminds me of the classic Mo Peterson buzzer beater, but for some reason I always enjoy seeing high-school kids make crazy shots more than the pros, because you know it's going to be one of the highlights of their life.

Was a championship game so doubt there it was fixed.
Player was probably horrible free throw shooter, just wanted to get rid of it incase he got fouled or saw an open man and decided to pass off.

They were celebrating initially but realized they'd lost.

That was cool though, both were celebrating.

As Da Chief said, he's trying to throw the ball up in the air to kill off the clock with no chance of the other team fouling.

He throws the ball in the air to run the clock out, but also so that they could only be beaten by an improbable long bomb (like happened).

However, he should have thrown it a little higher up, or a little further away from anyone.

He doesn't throw it up, the other team fouls him, and if he misses a free throw, the other team might have a chance for a better look at a basket to tie or win.

If he had hung onto the ball, he might get fouled with 2 seconds left or so. Assuming that the black team gets the rebound and has a timeout in case of a missed second shot, they have an inbound pass to try and get a better look to tie or win.

Usually its better strategy to try and run out the time like that. He pretty much made it a sub 1% chance of the other team winning by throwing it there, likely better odds for his team to win than hanging onto the ball. He could have made a better throw that would have reduced the odds to zero.

Personally, i like the idea of rolling the ball on the floor instead of making a toss like he did. If the other team did get it, the player would have to first reach down to the floor, further wasting time, and not letting the player set for a shot as quickly.

Love how the refs have a bro huddle, then the head guy gives the "count basket" gesture and then books it off the court like the building's on fire.
