On the 18th it will be 5 years since the untimely and far too soon passing of Mickey Renaud who passed away due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a rare heart condition.
Tonight the Spitfires are wearing a special jersey in his honour.
It's hard to believe it has been 5 years.

I'm a chiropractor and the profession is being trained to look for signs of heart distress in young athletes as a result of situations like Mickey's tragedy. Hopefully we will be able to catch it before it becomes a problem in the future. Maybe his death will not be in vain then...

Yeah I just saw that too, he was what a 12 year old kid when it happened? But I guess at that age he would have spent a decent amount of time around the team.
