Brodie is playing scary good hockey right now. Has been on the ice for just 3 goals against all season (181 minutes of icetime).

Brodie has been playing well. It is good to see him earning his minutes and doing something with them. I like how offensive he is being as well but only on the ice for 3 goals against all season is pretty nice to hear.

Is that the flames best?

The Flames seem to lose the play when the opposition cycle behind their own net, particularly on the PK. Hopefully they can get this cleaned up. It seems like a lot of GA scored recently have been as a result of an own-zone scramble caused by this.

Of the regular skaters pretty much.

Also Derek Smith has been on the ice for 1GA in his 7 games but 0 GF.

Crazy that almost literally no scoring has happened this season with Smith on the ice.

I only caught the highlights, but I can imagine that I would have cringed every time the puck went near Irving.

Very interesting about Brodie.

Exactly what you want from a bottom pairing D. Hope he draws back in next game. He's much better than Butler defensively.

Yeah agreed I would much rather have Smith in than Butler. And i've been a Sarch fan in the past, but Babchuk has to be a better option. Defensively he's not outstanding but he's not terrible. Plus there's not many guys that can shoot the puck like him. Its a valuable asset.

Also something I kind of thought of in the last couple games. People have been going on about Stempniak's success and just from zeroing in on him a bit I can see why its happening. The guy shoots the puck. All the time. He's got a great quick shot and is utilizing it very well. Were guys Like Iggy, Tanguay and Glencross have been slowing up the play and stopping on the halfwalls looking for passes into the middle and dicking around with it in the offensive zone, Stempniak is playing a simple north-south shoot first game and its working. I wish the others I mentioned would put the puck on net more because they all have great shots. Glencross seems to be bitten with a slight case of Rene Bourque "I'm now a top line player and am going to stop doing what I did to get me here" Syndrome. Get back to using your speed and shooting the puck the Glenny!

Butler has been playing some decent hockey as of late so it's hard to just pull him out of the line up, but I would be interested to see what a Babchuk - Smith pairing could do. The only thing that would worry me is I'm not positive Smith is fast enough or strong enough to cover up Babchuk's weaknesses, but there's only one way to know for sure!
