Default Fairly certain, but need peace of mind!

Hi Guys n Girls
Not sure if any of you have come across this, but this has just happened to me yesterday and any feed back would be greatfully appreciated. I'm trying to sell my truck on Kijjiji and I got a reply from a "potential buyer" with the following messege:

Thanks for getting back to me, i just wanted to make sure nothing is been left out. I will be buying this for the price you have listed it for. Payment will be sent using PayPal and i will handle the PayPal surcharge as well. I will arrange with a shipping company to have this picked up at your location once i have paid as i am out of town at the moment. Am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making are restricted,so you can send me your PayPal email account so that i can send the payment at once and its easy to sign up for one just log on to www.paypal.com,i will be responsible for the pick up charges Note: i'll also include the Shipping company's fee so kindly Get back to me with your PayPal email account so i can proceed with the payment asap.. Thanks

No details have been forwared as I'm fairly certain this is bogus, but you never know! This may be a warning to everyone else out there to watch out for this.
Thanks

Yeah it's a fairly well known PayPal scam. Guy offers to pay all fees, send you the money but it's held until they receive a tracking number for your shipment, you ship the vehicle, turns out he paid using a stolen CC #, the funds get redacted, you get ####ed and your vehicle is god knows where.

Big time scam, walk away from it.

or tell them that you require two weeks for the funds to sit in your account before the vehicle can be picked up due to scammers.

real buyers never pay asking price without seeing it (except in 2006 if you wanted to buy a house)

love how he is a marine engineer, but the punctuation is wrong and certain phrases do not make sense.

tell him that you are related to nierian royalty and don't need to have a paypal account - he can just send the cheque to the bank of negeria and they know who you are and they will take care of it all.

Do not accept any form of payment that does not involve a) cash, or b) the two of you meeting at the buyer's bank.

The guy can't make phone calls, but he can e-mail as much as he wants? Also, he's an engineer but has zero grasp of the English language?

When someone buys a large item like a car, they want things to be just as secure and face to face as the seller. If people are avoiding these things, it's an obvious scam.

As people have said above, this is most definintely a scam. Kijiji is just about the worst place in the world to list your vehicle...

It's obviously a scam, but I deal with many engineering firms on a weekly basis, and it's very obvious many of them do not have "speaks/writes English" as a requirement for employment.

Not to name names or anything...

It's not even that. They just send you an email that looks like the payment has been made to PayPal. If you log into your PayPal account there are no transactions on your account.

I was selling my car a while ago and got one of these. I kept him going for about 6 weeks before he gave up. When he asked to pick up the car I kept giving my address as the closest police station to my house.

More red flags than the Beijing Olympics.

Also, in my experience, any type of engineer wouldn't buy anything sight unseen, especially a car or truck.

I'd keep looking.

Last year when I was selling my car I was also contacted by two different marine biologists working on two different ships in the St. Lawrence Seaway who also had limited telephone access and wanted to pay by paypal. What a coincidence...
