Default Canadian quarter to feature glow-in-the-dark Alberta dinosaur

http://www.montrealgazette.com/techn...029/story.html

Quote:
EDMONTON — The image of a dinosaur whose remains were discovered in Alberta's Peace Country will be featured on our newest quarter — the first Canadian coin with a glow-in-the dark picture.

[...]

Photo-luminescent technology that won't wear off means the regular image of the dinosaur on the quarter will transform into a glowing skeleton in the dark.

Excellent!

If they didn't keep coins the same size I'd be completely unable to recognize my pocket change.

I wonder how much the USA will spend protecting themselves from this spy threat.

Is this going to be one of those special coins you have to spend $20 to get or is it actually going into widespread circulation?

Ah never mind, it's gonna sell for 29.99

In terms of cool, this is up there with the Silver Surfer quarter stunt Fox pulled in the US a few years ago.

Not that I paid $22 to get one of those off eBay, or anything . . .

They're not radioactive, at least not in the way you're implying. The type of Photo-luminescence they use "stores" light that it's exposed to and releases it later (via quantum mechanics stuff I don't understand).

The only kind of radiation they'll give off is electromagnetic radiation (light). Well that and whatever background radiation they'll emit.

Seeing as God made them and then decided to purposefully "hide" their bones as fake fossils around the world to test our faith, they really should just STFU - it was part of the plan all along!
