So about a year and a half ago, I get my first cell phone. Whopp-dee-do. I'm 35 and have never needed, nor wanted, a cell phone. But the wife was pregnant and wanted us to both have one for emergencies since we both do some light travelling with work and such.
So. I've had this thing for 18 months and I have to admit its kinda handy. Until I made a realization today. Someone called and left a message and i have NO idea how to retreive said message. So I was showing my buddy at work the phone to see if he could figure it out, he punches some buttons then says "so whats the phone number?"
............uhhhmmmmm........................uuuuu hhhh..........
Ya. I don't even know the number for my own phone. 18 months. I'm an idiot.
Seriously though. I can't be the only person who does bone-head things like this. What do you guys/girls do that just makes you go WTF?
And for the record, my wife is the only person who has ever called me on the phone, hence the lack of need to know the number.

Correction: You're not the only idiot.
My wife carries a cell phone, but I refuse to. Either I would get calls from work, or my wife would call asking when I am going to be home from work.

Word to that.
I've been totally mobile (no land line) for almost 3 years now.

My cell number I know off by heart (again might have to do with being single and male) or it might have to do with the fact it's super easy to remember. (lots of 2's).
Apartment number I have to look at the keypad in order to remember, as well numbers I call frequently I don't remember, I just remember the sequence on how to dial it.
Postal Codes I remember really well, but I've only ever had two.
The number is in the phone under it's menu, often times it'll come up when you first turn the phone on.

I taped my cell number onto my wall to help me remember it. Because I forget to turn it off sometimes and dont remember where I put that bugger.
It says I have 10 voicemail messages but I just figured out how to check them but when i checked it said I had no new messages. Stupid phone

I can one up you, I have trouble remembering my age believe it or not, after 18 I didn't really give a shinguard anymore, I actually have to subtract birth years. I think I'm 30 or 31.
|
I have the same problem. Whenever someone asks my age I need to think about for a minute so they automatically assume that I'm lying or making it up.

I too don't know my own cell phone number. I guess its not important.
Fortunately, the few people who call me seem to know it. . . . . so its all good.

This one time, I went to summer camp, and when I got there and this guy was there with a clipboard, and he asked me what my name was, and I told him the wrong name, and I didn't mean to and I didn't even know I said the wrong name until my parents, they were there too, they said "that's not your name" and you know what, they were right.

If you are single and smart, you really shouldn't need one.

My license plate number. The odd time I will get asked for it and I never have a clue. The person asking for it always looks at me like I'm an idiot or something when I say I don't know I have to check. I mean how many people know their license plate number off by heart? (I probably don't want to know).

I am absolutely terrible with birthdays.
I never remember my nephews and nieces or friends, although I do remember my parents and sisters'.
Of course, my wife knows all of them and always shakes her head whenever I forget............which is every year.
My long term memory is great, short term is very, very bad.
