Default C of Champions: The Road to the 1989 Stanley Cup

Watching that old video of game 7 against the Canucks (in the Vernon thread) made me think about this video that I must have watched a million times as a kid... It's almost overwhelmingly cheesy to watch now, but it still a pretty good recap of the Flames 89 season.

(This isn't my upload or anything. I just searched for it on YouTube.)

Used to watch that constantly

I remember thinking Tim Kerr must have been the biggest, baddest guy in the NHL because of how that video made him look.

Awesome! This just made my night. I watched this almost religiously back in the day, until some jerk borrowed it and then moved away the next day. It's been at least 25 years since I last watched this.

Love the synth drums!

I also had this VHS...no idea where it is now. Plus, my Dad and I each completed BOTH the O-Pee-Chee AND the Panini sticker albums that year!

This and the 'Calgary Flames Video Yearbook 1988-89' are great. I got a copy of this one off of Ebay about 10+ years ago. I got the Video Yearbook for Xmas at some point in the mid 90s. I remember the FlamesAttic catalog used to sell that ever year. Both are at my parents house in FL, along with my VHS player. Next time I visit, will have to bust these out.

No ill will towards you but those were what, 25 years ago? Its time to let it go. You shouldn't even think of it, let alone mention it.

Disagree. I'm happy to watch and shed a tear.

I live in Vancouver and do not use the "we have a cup and you don't!" Argument.

But I do enjoy our history and respect it. My C of Champions tape was stolen in a house robbery, so getting a chance to see this again means a lot.

I don't remember this one, but I remember the video yearbook (hosted by Larry Day I believe). I liked that one as it had more behind the scenes type stuff.

hmmm. i can't seem to find any images or clips of this online. If I remember correctly it was produced by Safeway and channels 2 and 7. I can't be the only person who has a copy of this...?

It was basically a recap of the entire Flames season then the last 30 minutes or so cover the entire playoffs. I haven't seen it in a good 10 years, but I remember they interview Lanny at the beginning of training camp in '88 and he has a huge black eye, LOL. I remember seeing that as a kid, and combined with his mustache thinking it was so ridiculous.

I have the VHS tape somewhere in my house. One of these days maybe I'll seek it out and digitize it.
