Default Flames-Least Penalized Team in the NHL

I was bored today and looking up stats and noticed that the Flames not only are the least penalized team in the NHL with 7.6 PIM/G but are the only team without a fighting major. Just found this an interesting stat.

There isn't much correlation to winning percentage although Chicago is 2nd.

Thoughts?

We don't fight.

Therefore, no penalties.

I don't think it says much about the only thing that I could possibly take from it is that the Flames are not taking the body enough and making borderline plays that will get called sometimes making it easier for other teams to make plays. Perhaps the team should have taken some penalties in that Sharks game to prevent them from dominating? But that seems like a stretch.

Likely a combination of a very soft team, with few games played and something that will even out over time.

Good thing too, because the penalty kill has been terrible.

They still play that awful passive box.

I'm surprised to see Montreal at the top. They have almost 100 more penalty minutes than us in just 1 more game played

Is Feaster trying to show up the Oilers without tanking skill wise? It's not working if so.

I get this statement, but will we get bigger, as we play more games?

Maybe not! But we will certainly be within some almost indistinguishable difference from the rest of the league :P

I agree. You can't take many penalties when your the smurfs. Size matters.

Last minute interference, tripping, hooking calls doesn't make you a tough team to play against.
