I am in Management at KBAL. We are all hoping and praying for the safe rescue and return of our colleagues. Not only are they colleagues, but one of the thre missing crew is a good friend of mine.
I have lost co-workers to plane crashes in the past, but it never gets easier, or for that matter, easy at all. It is unbelievably hard, not knowing if my brothers ar e safe or not.
We are pulling off all the stops to get to the site. It looks like we may have a good chance this afternoon, as the weather is lifting. We have planes from KBAL, The US Airforce and two helicopter companies, leaving for the site in an hour or so. If you guys want, I can try to keep you updated as I hear news.
Please pray for all my co-workers, but specifically for the 3 boys lost at the end of the world.

I am hoping for good news in this story. According to the New Zealand Herald, there are reports that they have spotted the crash site and are trying to get to it now. I find that the NZ Herald site is updated more quickly than the Canadian sites.

Fingers crossed!

Thanks for the kind words everyone. It has been a pretty hard 24 hours.
The boys are missed dearly and forever will live on in our memories.

Such a shame, Bob was very well known over at the AvCanada forums. His stories, tips, and advice to all pilots was a cut above. I loved reading his posts about crossing the Drake in the Twotters.

Pretty much all the chips stacked up against them, plane crash, desolate area, insane cold... Hopefully they died in the crash though rather than because of the elements afterwards.
