Default Thanks A Lot Alberta Children's Hospital!!

I just wanted to tell all the staff at the Alberta Children's Hospital THANK YOU.

My daughter and I were there today. She had hernia surgery. We got there at 6:30 am. She was to have surgery @ 9 am. Well 9 came and went, but low and behold, the nurse came over @ 9:10 to say sorry the surgeon was called into an emergancy.

We hung till around 10:30 then they got her in and done, we were home by 4:30.

It is a great facility.

All the nurses, doctors and support staff were amazing. My daughter is a question machine. Anyone that was asked a question stopped what they were doing and gave her their attention and answered her questions.

We hear all the time about the problems in the healthcare system, but sometimes it does work.

Thank you again ACH, you were great.

Great story and glad to hear your daughter did good - it is truly the most amazing place in the world.

The ACH saved my son's life 2 years ago and I and my family will never be able to repay them for such an amazing gift.

We are lucky to have the facility and the gifted people that work there.

I'm always glad to hear good stories about that place, since our experience was so different. Gives me a slight bit of hope...

Every experience I've had there has been great. Despite any shortcomings of the health system, I have lots of praise for the doctors and nurses that I've dealt with.

How's she feeling right now, UCB? I had hernia surgery in June, felt like I was dying for about two weeks, LOL. But, I'm an old lady and your daughter's young, so I'm sure it's a completely different story for her.

I agree. We had to have our 3 week old in for 5 days for a bout with RSV. Stressful situation, but the hospital and staff were great.

All the care we got through pregnancy and birth and afterward has been great.

I spent a lot of time at the older facility when I was growing up. It always made scary times feel a heck of a lot less scary.

The staff there is pretty special.

I went to volunteer there after I became an adult to give back a little, and there was a waiting list to do that, which is pretty cool. I should check into that again.

She is sore, but doing well, she is a tuff little ####.

She played a hockey game on Sunday the 6th. She turned to me and asked is she still needed surgery, becuase she just "pushed my lump back in"?

My girlfriend is in the medical industry, and I have always thought that pediatricians were among the nicest (if not the nicest) medical pros out there. Some of the best customer service you'll find in hospitals are in children's hospitals.

It's great to hear about this. Childrens Hospitals are crucial in letting sick kids still be kids. Obviously I hope I never need to go there but I'm glad such a facility exists.

The ACH rocks! My boy spent a week there when he was 5 weeks old and we couldn't say enough about the staff and the facility.

I spent a night there over christmas with my boy again because of respiratory issues he was having and they had us in and out within 3 hours. We are very lucky to have a facility like that in our city.

My sister works for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation (and loves her job), please make sure to donate to them when they do their big Radiothon or the Candy Cane Gala every year!

My girl wants to donate a large chunk of her stuffies and older/younger age toys she has.

Do you know if they take this type of stuff?

I do not know, my sis works on the money donation side of things. Probably a quick phone call can get you the answer.
