Vacation with baby - advice on sleeping arrangement without a crib
Going on vacation next week to Florida with a 3 month old. The house we're renting doesn't have a crib. Seeking advice on what to do about where/how to put this baby to sleep. I know there's co-sleeping, but we have no experience with that. Any advice on that? Are there any products people would recommend for a baby to sleep in for traveling?
Here's a link to a rental place - you can rent items so you don't have to haul stuff back and forth on the plane. Something there should meet your needs. If that place doesn't operate in the area you're in, there's probably another.

You could probably pick up a portable play pen from the local Walmart or Target for less than $60.
We've been using a portable play pen for our little guy since birth, when we go on trips and stuff. Seems to be just fine.
The play pen should come with an upper and lower option, so you don't have to break your back bending over for them.
This is the one we have. After a certain weight, you'll remove the top part, and the child will sleep in the bottom part. Very easy to setup and take down. Takes no more than 30 seconds.
This is what we used when our kid was 1 yrs old. Popup tent with a small inflateable air mattress that zips under the tent. Worked well and folded flat. I just put in the bottom of our suitcase. You can get them at Kacz Kids.
Oh, didn't think of rental. That seems like a good option.
Also like the looks of that tent. Nice and compact - my worry with the larger graco play-pens (we have one at our place in Lake Windermere) is that they're still quite large to haul around. Tent could work for while we'er at the beach too.
Calgary does these rental things too, as far as I know, so if you're stuck for something when you have company visiting, you can get stuff from them.
Calgary's Child used to have at least one of the Calgary and area rental places advertising in their mag, so you might look there and talk to one of them regarding rental places in the area you will be in, and see if they might recommend one of them in particular - often they'll have repeat clients who rent in other locations who give them the skinny on those rental jobbies and whether or not they're any good.

We used this om vacation when my son was 4 months old last june and it always made me nervous because he would roll over and press his face against the vinyl? Side. Low and behold there was a recall http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toront...ll-peapod.html
It's probably low risk but thought I'd give you the heads up. They are incredibly practical. Tw alternative would be as mentioned above a cheap portable crib from wal mart. You can just leave it there.

It's awesome. I also have rented items (high chairs, etc.) and traveling with a baby/todler has been easier than expected. I personally prefer having our own crib.

Play yard/pack and play/whatever brand name you like. We used them for our twins until they were sleeping in proper beds, including while camping in a tent.
They say they're not for sleeping but that's just a guideline.

To echo CorporateJay, we have the Peapod and it's great, except for anyone under about 6 or 8 months. My older son slept in it young and I saw the same thing with him mashed up against the side. The kid has to be able to roll over before using this thing. After that, they're incredible. My 4 yr old will still sleep and play in it.

Second for the travel tent. We used one as well and at 3 months of age it would be perfect. It stops being great once the kids are moving around but it would be ideal with what you are looking for.
