Default AARCS (Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society) Needs Foster Homes

AARCS (Alberta Animale Rescue Crew Society) is desperately looking for foster homes for dogs. I follow many local rescue shelters and I saw this on my Facebook feed:

Quote:
Recently AARCS was advised about a situation 7 hours north of Calgary where a group was asked to help with a home that has in excess of 50 large breed dogs. We have been told most of the animals are living on chains. At the time of the initial viewing AARCS agreed to take two of these dogs and we brought home Molly Rose and Harmony. Since that time we have been trying to get more, but foster space never seems to be available. We are reaching out to you today in hope you or someone you know can foster a dog so we can get these dogs into care. We are working with Pound Rescue and are hopeful to bring some home next week. Many of the dogs are extremely shy as they have had little human contact. Rescuers said many turning away from them and trying to crawl under a bale of straw, while others were pulling with every ounce of strength in them to the ends of their chains in hopes they would receive some human attention.

Since the first time visiting this property 20 of the dogs/pups have been placed into foster care. Now 2 months in, there are still 30 dogs. Some pregnant, others in heat, some shy, some social, some petrified. We need your help. Please when you get an email about fostering share the email and forward it to anyone and everyone you might know, because for that one new foster home that opens up a space it means the world for that individual animal.

In the next two days we have two adult female dogs, 10 puppies, and a dog with a broken leg coming in. In addition, Ritchie is going to need an new foster home, and many more puppies in the coming weeks who will need to move once done whelping. We hope to go back up North next week and bring back another group of dogs, but as it stands we don't have any foster space and will have limited space at the shelter until we are able to move some of the dogs coming in this weekend.

If you are able to foster a dog, be it one of the dogs from the North, a puppy or something else, please contact Paula at foster@aarcs.ca. Please remember, we can only bring in what we have room for and if we don't know you are available to take an animal we have to say no. Sadly, it is reality that we have had to say no more often than not lately. I know many people wait for that special case, or an emergency, but the time is now if you are thinking of fostering or have room in your home for one more dog or puppy, please come forward and pass this along to anyone who you think might be willing to help.

I recently heard the saying, "If you can't foster - Volunteer, if you can't volunteer - Donate, if you can't donate - Spread the Word"

Kindest Regards,
Deanna Thompson
Spread the word if you can, especially if you know someone whose perhaps looking into getting a dog or would like to volenteer. Thanks!
