LF flight passes or similar?? emergency flight to Halifax

long story but last week i found out my uncle (more like brother) was diagnosed with Cancer (soft tissue Sarcoma) Tonight I received a call saying he had had the appointment and there is no treatment they can offer and that the cancer is now being very agressive and he has been admitted to Pallitive care in Halifax with a very possible chance of passing anytime

I'm trying to figure a way to go and see him before he passes but cant really afford to spend the $1700 to get to halifax from Calgary
If anyone has a buddy pass for a return flight to Halifax I'd be eternally greatful

Have you called WestJet and asked what you can do? There has to be some sort of standby you could get on. IIRC Buddy passes are pretty much standby; the difference is Buddy Pass holders get a higher priority than regular standby. (So if there is 1 seat left and a buddy pass holder and regular standby, BP gets the seat.)

Especially after you explain the situation, I would think they would want to help.
