You can't honestly think that represents the sentiments of most Quebecers brother.

It is like anything in life. Those that aren't happy are 10 times more likely to voice their complaints than those that are satisfied telling everyone how happy they are.

I didn't watch the video. Just hearing about it is disheartening. To me, it is similar to those people protesting Remembrance Day in Toronto. A very vocal minority doing something drastic to ensure that they are heard by the majority.

Why do they hate Canada so much? I honestly don't get it. Canada has been good to most of them.

Enough is enough right now!

20 morons stepping on a flag seals the deal for me.

We should kick the whole province out of the country. Obviously it would be a MASSIVE construction project to actually remove the province of Quebec from Canada (and set them afloat in the Atlantic, I guess) but it would totally be worth it.

Hopefully we can keep the Plains of Abraham somehow.

When I was in Europe this past fall I met a couple guys from Quebec. I told them I was from Alberta and they were really friendly toward me. I didn't really expect it because I thought there was a stigma between our two "cultures". We hung out for a whole day in Munich and all night. The topic of Quebec independence didn't come up until the end of the night. Both were separatists, and I had no idea they were until they told me. But both were genuinely nice people.

I don't think either side of this debate should demonize the other side. We should be able to come to an understanding and respect each other while furthering our two cultures. There will be extremists representing all sides. Doesn't mean they are the popular choice.

What I don't understand is why their faces are blurred out. I'm not sure if it was done by their request or in respect to their privacy, but regardless they should be identifiable if they truly stand behind their beliefs on such a public and forward topic such as this. I could understand if it was someone pushing the issue on a forum or something where their wish for privacy and anonymity is accepted, but during such a blatant public display of arrogance and disrespect to the rest of Canada, they should not be able to take an anonymous stance.

This is nothing new for the small separatist bunch in Quebec. Theses people are the french equivalent of confederate hillbillies refusing to let go of a dying ideal. Lumping all Quebecers together under this showing would be wrong.

It's not appealing to watch, but it really isn't a big deal. It's not worth getting upset over.

I don't like it when people mess with the flags of theirs or other nations, but it's such an obvious and typical protest statement there really isn't much to it anymore. Plus, having the freedom to be able to do that even if it is wrong is kinda the whole point of the flag anyway.

I think it's just one of those situations where if you ignore it, it has less power than if you make a big deal of it. People like that just want attention.

The separatist movement is much weaker than it was in the nineties, and there is reason to think it may continue to slow and erode. Hopefully this is the case, but there will always be a population of people like this who will do stuff like this. It's not worth getting upset over.

Nobody every said that Separatists were smart or had a grasp on reality. I compare them to hillbilly mountain men in Alabama, but with better looking woman.

Worst case scenario we can take it by force...again.

In related news, it was voted that the Canadian flag shall be left up in the legislature. And Quebecers are pissed that these are the kinds of things their government is voting on while their economy is in the gutter.

They should raise taxes some more for the privilege of being French.

And here I was thinking this thread would be about how the PQ increased the budget of the language watchdogs while cutting things like low-income housing.
