Toronto had an average week, going 2-2-0 in four games. We took two beatings (2-8 against OTT and 1-5 against BUF), meaning there's no defenseman or goaltender worthy of a nomination this week. Therefore the Leafs only have one nomination:
Unsung: RW Matt Read (63 overall): 3 GP, 2 G + 1 A = 3 P, +1, 2 PIM, 1 GWG, 1x 2nd star, 1x 3rd star
After being a part of a big trade that saw Marty St Louis and Loui Eriksson switch places, Matt Read has quickly settled in Toronto, playing on a point-per-game basis in his first three outings in a Leafs uniform. Read got out of the gate in spectacular style when he scored the game-winning goal in a close 3-2 win over San Jose with just 7 seconds remaining in regulation. He was awarded the game's 2nd star in this game. He was scoreless and had an even rating in a 5-1 loss to Buffalo before helping the Leafs to a 4-3 SO win over Montreal. Read scored the opening goal on the PP for the Leafs and later added the primary assist to the Leafs' third goal. He was named the 3rd star in this game. Read skated on the second line for us in those games and was on the ice in all situations, getting time on both the PP and the PK. All in all, he averaged 17:48 minutes of ice-time in those three games, including an average of 2:00 minutes on the PP and 1:38 on the PK.

I believe in the Pony Power
|
Corey Schneider
3-0, 1.66 GAA, stopped 103 of 107 shots 96% SVP
The week included
- A 3-2 OT win against the Sabres
- A 2 nothing shutout against the Ducks (#3 team in the entire CPHL)
- A 4-2 win over the Islanders (#6 team in the entire CPHL)
A slam dunk choice if there ever was one.

UNSUNG: Luca Sbisa (62 OV- Defense, 1x3rd star)
This week the Phoenix Coyotes went 2-0-1 with a shootout loss. Sbisa netted 2 assists and a +2 rating this week, playing 17:38, 17:36, and 14:58. He also had 3 hits, 5 shot blocks, and 2 takeaways. Contribution from the 3rd pairing defence definetly helped this week, as the 2 wins were both OT or SO wins

Sabres went 2-0-1-1 this week
Nominate
Rooke Roman Josi - OK so not spectacular numbers 4GP 1G 1 A 2pts -2, but thrown into the lineup on the 3rd pairing and the PP and had a very solid game for the Sabres in their win over the Jets where he picked up 2 points and was the 2nd star
would have liked to have nominated Marty Brodeur in net, very solid in his 2 Sabre starts, but he had a stinky start for the Flyers earlier in the week

Devils:
D-man: Duncan Keith was all over the ice picking up 2 goals, 1 assist, 9 hits, 11 shots, blocking 4 shots and one takeaway. He was -1 but led the Devils in ice time as they went 3-1 this week and was first star in his last game this week.
Rookie: Teemu Hartikainen played in only one game for the devils this week, but had 1 goal, 1 assist, was +1 taking 2 shots, having one credited hit, blocking one shot and taking 2 PIM for slashing a Canuck which is great in everyones eyes. He was also perfect in his one faceoff appearance.
Player: Brad Richards was a beast for NJ this week. He had 3 G and 3 helpers, plus a shoot out winner. One of his other goals was also a game winner.
He was +6 leading the Devils to a 3-1 week. He also had 17 shots, 6 hits, 1 take away and was 57% from the faceoff circle going 68/119. He was also first star in one game.
Unsung: Marc-Andre Gragnani is only 60 OV but wasa key contributor for the Devils this week. He was +3 with 1 assist from the back end, had 3 shots, blocked 2 shots, had 2 hits and 3 take aways in our games this week.
Goalie: Corey Crawford again had a great week for the devils. He went 2-1 including a shoot out win. He stopped 105/113 shots in hsi three games for a .929 save% and 2.66 GAA with wins over Pittsburgh and Phoenix and a 1 goal loss to the Hurricanes. He had a 1st star performance as well.

Pens nominees:
Rookie:
Max Pacioretty 4GP 1G 3A 4pts - 2nd star, 3rd star. Pacioretty continued to carry the team offensively despite the struggling top 6. He kept moving along at a PPG clip while playing of the 3rd line.
Unsung:
Saku Koivu 4GP 4G 1A 5pts +5, 1st star, 2nd star
Koivu was the leading Pen scorer this week. He has been the top center on the team all year and is the backbone of the leagues top 3rd line.
