Default Final Fantasy XIV Ending

While I've never played this MMO, it seems that Square/Enix has admitted that it's made a lot of mistakes. Instead of trying to patch them in as fixes over the time, they've taken an interesting approach. They have "ended" the current cycle with a massive player-interactive war and 'finished' the game. They'll be relaunching the 'new and improved' one next year, but the cinematic that they used to close off their current MMO is, in typical Square/Enix fashion, simply stunning.

That is a very neat approach.. I know if they tried something like this with DAoC or UO you would get a lot of returning players for this final "event". Then you have them interested for what the next phase will be..

I am on a FF kick right now, just replayed 1,2 and 5.. might have to take a look at this..

Pretty sweet. Square has been pushing the best FMV even before Blizzard came around (though I'd agree both are quite close).

Always so apocalyptic. I guess that's what happens when your society gets two a-bombs dropped on it.

I looked at FF XIV when it came out but decided against it as I didn't like the way they set up the character options and leveling. Also I was told that there weren't many English players and I should get ready to learn Korean. As the game progressed and it was obvious they were having big troubles it seemed like I made a good choice. However it still would have been fun to try.

Okay couple of things.
1. I've never played this but the character models look pretty cool and much better than recent games including XIII.
2. Whoever made the decision that it was reasonable for FF games to have music with lyrics should be shot, it always ends up being cheesy and terrible and they should've learned that lesson with FFVIII and never allowed it to happen again.
3. The MMO genre just really needs to die. F WoW. The amount of time and money spent on this reported garbage (again, never played never will) could have produced 2 good RPG's.

^^^ #2. Haha yeah! Was even meaning to put that in my post. Could really do without the cheesy pop ballads they've been putting in their games the last 5-6 years or so.
