After Sven, which prospect are you most optimistic for?
I think it's safe to say that almost everyone projects Sven as our number 1 prospect, but who comes in 2nd in your view?
Horak - to say he's lighting it up in the AHL would be an understatement. But can he continue to improve to be a solid 2nd/3rd line NHLer? Is he still considered a "prospect" despite playing 61 games last year?
Jankowski - off to a solid start in his 1st year in the NCAA. Still years away from making the NHL but has tremendous potential.
Gaudreau - very undersized but oozes all kinds of offense. One of the top players in college. Will he be able to avoid getting hammered by the bigger players in the NHL.
Sieloff - defensive specialist and an absolutely devastating hitter.
Brossoit - MVP of the WHL champs last year. Still a few years away, and not off to a great start this year.
Anyone else?

I have Gaudreau ranked as our #1 prospect with Sven a close 2nd. I don't think Gaudreau's size will be an issue at all by the time he is ready and his hockey sense and skill is off the chart.

I'm really excited about Gillies. I really wanted the Flames to draft him think he's a bit of a steal at 75. He's a big goalie with the butterfly fundamentals done well. If he can get a bit faster, I think he could be a decent 1A/1B goaltender for the Flames. Biggest weakness for him is his lateral speed, which is something I think most big goaltenders have when they start out.

Gaudreau 1a
Sven 1b
2. Seiloff
3. Horak
4. Granlund
5. Jankowski
6. Arnold
7. Irving if he can still be considered a prospect now.

In terms of inevitability of becoming a full time NHLer, I have to go with Reinhart.
He's the only other prospect in the system right now where I can say with almost complete certainty that he'll be a NHLer.
If we're talking sheer skill as a measurement of being a top prospect, it's Gaudreau hands down.

Honorable mention to Ramage too. I think this guy is going to be a great full time NHL'er just unsure if it will be with the Flames.

Yeah, I will admit I forgot about Ramage. Isn't his deadline to sign an ELC coming up? Any chance he uses the Justin Schultz loophole?

After Sven, I think Sieloff is the closest thing to a "can't miss" prospect that the Flames have, but Gaudreau is the one I'm most looking forward to watching as a Flame.

I do not think he will "Schultz" the Flames more that he might make decent trade bait. I would really like him to play for the Flames.

He can't use the loophole. He's playing his 4th year at Wisconsin right now, so he's Flames property until August 15, 2013. If he had left college early, the Flames would have held his rights until June 1, 2014.
Based on the things King and Feaster have said about him and how he has handled all the stuff with his dad, I have no reason to believe he isn't in the team's long-term plans.

Is Brodie still considered a prospect? I like his game, and he's the one I'm most excited for. Otherwise I'd say Gaudreau. Small forwards are becoming more viable as time goes on. Hopefully he can be our Tyler Ennis.

I rely on other poster's opinions on our prospects as I have nearly no way to determine on my own. That being said, I do not remember EVER hearing so many names spoken so optimistically in the Flames system as this fall. I am excited for our future.

Jankowski - he'll likely put on 25-35 lbs over the next couple of seasons and when that happens he is going to be extremely difficult to defend against. I believe he'll be a top line point producer after his body catches up with his offensive instincts, puck control, and passing. My only issue with him is that we probably won't get to see him be a dominant player in the NCAA until he is a junior or a senior, which means he may not get a shot at the World Junior team.

Did you read the thread header? "after Sven"
Gaudreau looks to have that "special" touch but in no way should he be ahead of Sven on any list just yet.

Based on last year, Brodie is an NHL player in my opinion. A young NHLer who should continue to develop, but not a prospect by my definition.
I'm in the Jankowski camp personally, but I'm even more excited that there are a few different guys in the Flames future that could become stars.

Did you read the OP where he said we would all have Sven ranked #1 or did you just read the title and not the content? I disagreed so I posted so. You say that "in no way" Gaudreau shoud be ranked ahead of Sven but that is simply your opinion. Can you guarantee Sven will be a better player than Guadreau? No, you can't.
