o it is not anything other than being selfish and/or a scatterbrain.
That sums up most of the tardy people I know. I'm late every once in a while, but the compulsive late arrivals drive me crazy.
My girlfriend will be late for her own funeral. Guaranteed.

What drives me more crazy than people being late, is people who make me late! My wife and kids dawdle until the cows come home when we are running late for something. They have all day to get whatever they needed done, but suddenly it reaches crisis point right before we have to leave. Then I am just an a$$hole for "quickening" the pace, they get a little upset when I tell them the bus is leaving on time, with or without them.

I thought I was the only one with that problem. My wife always leaves things till the last moment, like ironing, makeup ect.

I am with you guys on this one, I can;t stand people who are late. Especially when I am always super early for everything just because i dont want to be one of those ######s, it really irks me when others don't have the respect to show up on an agreed to time.

I have an aunt like that. You tell her that supper is at 5:30 at a certain restaurant, guaranteed she's just getting into the tub at 5:30. So now we lie and tell her it's an hour earlier. Seems to work for the most part. Her poor husband had to take anger management classes she was so bad.

You late guys out there, why do you do it? I think I have been late less than 3 times in my whole life, so it is not anything other than being selfish and/or a scatterbrain. Do you realize the sucker waiting for you is hoping that you have been in an accident because that is the only excuse that's reasonable.
I vow from this day forward to not put up with late people. Five minutes grace is all you get. You make me wait, I crap down your throat.
|
Well, I tend to fall into the "late guy" category. I don't mean to be nor do I like being late.
Unfortunately, I have ADD (formal diagnosis NOT just a hunch) and those who have it tend to have difficulties with time management. I have serious difficulties with time management even compared to the rest of the functional group.
There was a time in my life when I wasn't late (5-20 minutes late) on a regular basis but it required some pretty rigid structure and scheduling to maintain timely arrivals and such. Due to my varied working hours and irregularly scheduled recreational activities that type of rigid structure is impossible for me to maintain.
So, now I just trick myself by setting the bedroom and bathroom clocks 10 minutes fast so my still sleeping brain gets tricked into thinking that I'm already running behind so I pick up the pace in the morning.
Try to avoid crapping down anyone's throat and try the decaf.

When it comes to punctual you will find my name front and centre! My wife is...umm...not.

I'm almost always late for everything and I would have to agree with Reaper that most of it is time management. I'm always caught trying to finish things up right before I leave to go somewhere and I end up having to compromise being on time in favour of finishing something up.
As far as the workers that keep being late for you fotze, I would suggest that it doesn't much matter to them whether they finish work on your house in the morning or afternoon so they are not motivated.

I guess I've sort of turned into a 'Late guy' but its mostly because my friends are always friggen late, so for 80% of the things I do if I'm on time I'm just waiting around. I try and make it so I'm on time for the on time people and the people I haven't figured out what category they are in yet, but sometimes the late habit creeps in.

I tend to be a punctual person too...except for this one friend of mine who is SO incredibly anal about being on time.
He's the kind of guy who, if you get caught up at a couple of red lights on your way to where you're meeting up, and are 2 minutes late, will call you as you enter the parking lot to see where you are and ask why you're late. Drives me nuts. So, out of spite, I purposely arrive 20 minutes late no matter what....I get the call, and tell him to chill out every time...but it's fun getting the reaction.

I think you guys are lying because 99% of the population are late always, the only ones that are on time can't just all happen to post on Calgarypuck. ^_^
|
Would I lie to you?
When I say my girlfriend is always late, I'm usually with her so it reflects on me as well. I'm the latest friend you'll ever have, and it drives me crazy.
When I'm by myself I'm generally on time though. We made a rule on the Friday night poker games that if you arrive later than 7:00 (7:01 is considered late) then the buy in is $25 and not $20. When people equate time with their own money, it solved a lot of the problems.

I think this problem in Quebec is even worse. People sometimes don't even show up at all. We we first moved into our appartment the gas company had to come and turn on the gas (so we could cook -- we have a gas stove). They gave that standard we'll show up between 9-5 crap, so my girlfriend took the day off from work and they never showed. She was p*ssed because she took a day off of work for nothing, so I phoned and yelled at them and said they'd better come on the weekend (which they initally refuse to do) because I'm not taking another day off work for this crap.
So then I waited at home all Saturday and they still never showed. I phoned and the message said they were closed. Same deal on Sunday. So then Monday they told me they would come and I arranged with the landlord to let them in so I wouldn't have to take the day off. I come home and the stove still won't work, so I phoned the landlord and he says they never showed up. I'm a pretty patient guy normally, but I'd had enough at this point (eating nothing but cold sandwhiches for supper for a week will do that to you) so I phoned them again and yelled because I had a 6:00am flight for NYC the next day and I wanted this solved before I went away, so they said they'd send someone over right away. This was at about 6:00pm. By 9:00 he hadn't shown up yet, and I had to get up at 3:00am for my flight the next morning, so I went to bed. At 11:30pm I get a knock at my door and its the gas guy.
And that's my adventure with people being on time in this province... There are many more stories like that, but that one is by far the worst.

Chronic lateness drives me crazy as well. If you have an appointment to be somewhere at a certain time, do your best to get there. If you can't, let someone know. Heck, I don't care really if you're going to be late, but phone ahead and tell me so I'm not sitting there p*ssed off. I'm at the point where I'll just leave if they're more than 15 minutes late. My time's worth a lot to me.

I'm one of those 99% I have to admit
... but 2 hours is insane. I'm occationally late here and there, but never more then 5 minutes. And that occationally is usually early morning class, because I like sleep too much.

I've got a friend who is always late. ITs not a huge deal most of the time, but last year, he agreed to drive another friend to the airport. He showed up an hour late (and his excuse was that he got carried away playing videogames), and my buddy missed his flight. He had to fly standby which took 14 hours to get on a flight.
Some people...

I can't stand being late for anything. In fact, I like being a few minutes early, if anything.
My wife used to be a little slow, but I ragged on her so many times she finally got the hint.
Hate being late.

I'm terribly anal about late people. I always make sure I give myself enough time to be somewhere, so I can't understand why other people can't do the same.
If its a valid reason, no problem. But just being lazy or careless isn't an excuse.

I do stuff like that too
I also set the clock on my desk several minutes faster so whenever I'm doing an assignment, I look at the clock and go "Oh fata, its __:__ and I've only got 1 assignment done." It makes me work faster.
