Barkov ranked #2?
That's what TSN says:
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=421577
I guess this puts McKinnon and Drouin 3-4. Interesting ...

I think that says Barkiv is ranked 1st in Europe not second overall.
CSS separates Europe and NA so Barkov is mentioned with Jones because they both are ranked 1 in their areas.
Theoretically he could be 10th if there are that many more NA guys better than him.

No he's ranked first outside of North America. They don't have a combined list out yet.

I'd put more stock in McKenzie's final draft rankings as opposed to central scouting, if you're looking for a barometer of how things are more likely to play out.

wow... How do you climb draft rankings while you're out with a shoulder injury? Impressive

All I know is I'd be ecstatic to nab him; this might put a dent in that hope.
When do McKenzie's rankings come out?

Craig Button said that it wouldn't be out of the question for him to go 1st. That was back in the fall though.

Bit of a misunderstanding here.
All they are saying is that Jones is #1 in North America on the Central Scouting Rankings and Barkov is #1 in Europe on the Central Scouting Rankings. This does not mean Barkov would be #2 on a combined list.

I could see the Flames still taking Barkov if they win the Lottery. Call me crazy if you want.

I would call the Flames crazy if they did that but considering the "odd" things this team does and efforts to be "different" I would not call you crazy to suggest that they might do it.

Button's been on the Seth Jones train for a while now. He thinks he's (Jones) the clear #1, after that he's tended to not make much of a distinction between the other three members of the big four.
Kind of makes me nervious about the lottory since I really think the Flames ought to be drafting a center to the point that if the Flames were to win the Lottory I would hope that they would trade down a spot ot two and let someone else draft Jones. Button being so high on Jones makes me concerned that if the Flames were to win the lotto that they would take him (with the other Button being head of scouting and all). Which wouldn't be terrible (we need top pairing D almost as much as we need a #1 center) but I'd rather get MacKinnon+ or Barkov+ then just Jones.

Ironically, with Backlund at C and Baertschi at LW, it looks like now all we need is a RW...

...yeah, if we're building a potential 2nd or 3rd line.
.....we need a 1st line center. Backlund is not a 1st line center.

I hope McKinnon stock keeps dropping so Flames will still get a chance to grab him. If the season ends today, the Flames is 7th from last place. The order is Florida, Colorado, TB, (tied) Carolina, Nashville and Edmonton, then the Calgary Flames. Freaking Oilers is trying to get the first pick overall again. If that happens, something needs to change. I have to say when a team receive the first pick overall one year, they shouldn't be allowed to get another 1st pick overall until after 3 years.
Seth Jones is definitely going to be the first pick overall from what I see. Florida and Colorado would love to have him. TB might opt for Barkov if they get the first pick overall or the Russian kid or they might pick Jones.

I thought so too, prior to this season. This year's Backlund has shown a lot more confidence and willingness to step up to the plate though. Call me crazy, but if he continues to progress at the same rate as he did from last season to this season, he just might be our #1C next season.

He probably will be, but it doesn't mean he is a "#1 C". His most glorious upside is... Langkow? That would be nice, but not true #1 C nice...
