Most of the guys directly on my crew, yes. Anybody else, no. Just because you work with them doesn't mean you can trust them any more than any other stranger. It's not like being employed for the same company all of a sudden creates some sort of special bond.

Don't put your trust in the wrong person.

A former postal worker who poured urine into his co-workers' coffee must serve six months in a jail work-release program.
Thomas Shaheen, 50, of suburban Springfield Township, also must pay $1,200 to the people he used to work with to cover their cost of making a secret video of his role in tainting the office coffee.
Shaheen stood and apologized to several postal workers in Akron Municipal Court where he pleaded guilty on Monday to two misdemeanor charges of tainting food.

Must have been Tim Horton's coffee drinkers that couldn't tell the difference.

As could probably be surmised from my posts in the 'Annoying People at Work" thread, I am quite careful in terms of who I give my trust to in the office. There are certainly people who I do trust, but I'm very conscious and cautious of manipulations and politics that take place in a work environment. I'm particularly careful about people who are considerably older than I am who I am responsible for managing and developing and who would like my position to become open.

There's a ski hill I work at occasionally (for about a week every couple of months in the winter) and last Christmas I left my gloves in the staff room when I had left to return to school. I came back 2 months later, writing them off and they were exactly where I left them. There are probably about 60+ people that share that room. So, I suppose I can trust them for the most part!

Co-workers are just people. Some are grand and noble while others are vile and unprincipled.
I completely trust a dozen, completely distrust a handful, and have no opinion (but hope for the best) the remaining hundreds of them.

In 3 years, there has never been an incident that has indicated that anyone I work with is the least bit dishonest.
So yeah, I trust them.

Do I trust them to complete work assignments? Yes
Do I trust them to take responsibility for any errors they make? Yes
Do I trust them to watch my son? A couple of them yes
Do I trust them to bury the dead hooker so she will never be found? 1 guy, yes
Do I trust them to watch my case of beer? Hell no!

How so? There's probably only one person I work with who I would trust would handle anything I give them in an acceptable manner. Not trusting anyone though protects me in the end, as I'm the one responsible for my own work, even if someone helps me. Works remarkably well.

I can trust pretty much most of my co-workers to do anything that's not work related. For work related stuff...that number drops.

I did trust my coworkers. I will leave an iPad on my desk or cash in be drawer over the weekend and never had an issue. That was, however until I went on vacation and came back to find that my scale bar was missing and the replacement one that I ordered has the scales in a different order. Before the 1:1 and 1:5 were both on the orange side with the 1:2 on the blue side. My new one has a completely different order pattern and no longer has a 1:3 scale opting for a 1:75 instead. What the hell, who even uses a 1:75 scale. I am constantly flipping the scale to find what I am looking for.
Going forward I will trust no one. (or I could start firing people and going through their equipment when the turn it in to find out who stole it)
