Tattoos and Cops
So the CPS does not take issue with their officers having tattoos that can't be covered by clothes, as long as they are not deemed offensive.
My recollection is the Canadian Military can only have tattoos that can be covered by clothes.

My thoughts, however one thinks of tattoos, professional or not they are just to common to ban from civic professions.

I think a blanket policy banning any visible tattoo would be a great way to lose out on solid candidates. If someone is otherwise good enough to hire that shouldn't keep them out, in fact the tattoo probably gave them some negative points at first so they're probably more qualified than others.

Covered is fine I think. Some people do find tattoos intimidating, and sometimes an officer needs to appear non-threatening (depending on the situation).
I mean, I'm not too sure how I would feel if an officer pulled me over and he had tear drop tatoos on his face or "LOVE" and "HATE" scrolled across his knuckles.

I don't care if they have tattoos.
Having said that, that tribal tattoo posted in the article is so ####ing weak.

Not a fan of tattoos at all, but you shouldn't be excluded from a job because of them. Unless they're on your hands, neck or face - tattoos there show questionable judgement in general IMO.

A tattoo shouldn't stop them from getting the job. Tattoos are removable and if they don't want to remove it, then that would be their choice.
(Just like if someone refused to take out a piercing or get their hair cut for a job)

Not really. I'm on my 14th appointment for getting rid of a maple leaf on my shoulder. Fourteen GD appointments, man. Can't imagine if I had a sleeve or something huge. I'd classify them as permanent...it's very expensive and time consuming (have to wait a minimum of 30 days between laser treatments) to remove a tattoo.

Why go through that for something as innocuous as a maple leaf? Ashamed to be Canadian now or making room for a "KILL ALL DOGS" tatoo?

This. As long as the exposed tattoos are not offensive they're fine.
I personally am not a fan of tattoos, but that doesn't affect my overall view of how someone should be treated. Cover them, and if they can't be covered they should be non offensive.
If you have offensive tattoos that can't be covered you probably don't have the intellect to serve in a public profession.
Really his should be a non issue.

Next thing you know they'll be allowed to have face piercings and gauges. The world's going to hell in a handbasket.

Red is the most difficult color to remove because its the closest to our actual skin tone.

No, lol. Didn't read the article. However, that tattoo exists everywhere so my point is still valid. People get "inked up" with that tribal crap and think it's cool. Just. The worst.

Unless you are from Samoan descent or something of the same ilk then I think tribal is ok.
