THE scene from the Sixth Sense.

The only time my jaw has genuinely dropped during a movie.

TV stuff first:

Angel - when Fred dies. Particularly the line "Please...why can't I stay". Brilliant writing.

Buffy - When the Buffster sacrifices herself in the first series finale (when it moved networks)

ER - Don't watch this anymore but in season 1 there was a brilliant episode involving a botched delivery. It was heart wrenching

NYPD Blue - When Jimmy Smits croaks.

Hmmmm all mine involve death so far. I'm a dark son of a gun.

Anyhoo...

Twin Peaks - the opening moments of the series when they discovered Laura's body. You new you were watching something different just by the way it was portrayed.

Friends - Yeah I know...bite me...but there was a nice story arc when Chandler hat the hots for Joey's g/f. It was well done.

Sports Night - The Whole Damn Series!

I'll do movies later.

T.V.

Angel - In the first episode when he asks the Villian if he can fly, then kicks him out of a 20th story window

Buffy - When Angel turns bad, kills a prostitute

Sledgehammer - When he tries to disarm a nuclear bomb at the end of season 1, last line is "Trust me I know what I'm doing". the next season is entitled Sledgehammer - The early years.

Cheers - When Coach dies

Cheers - The final episode when they shut off the bar lights one last time.

Star Trek (The original and only good series) - The entire episode entitled Mirror, Mirror. Where you got to see the kind nice crew that you'd grown up with as evil power hungery monsters.

Movies

Dances with Wolves - When wind in his hair stands on the cliff at the end

The Devil's Brigade - When the Canadian's march into camp for the first time

Star Wars A new hope - The opening scene when the Star Destroyer passes over the screen

Space Balls - When Space Balls one takes 10 minutes to cross over the screen
- Whats the matter Col Sanders . . . chicken?

The original Terminator when he kills the first Sarah Conners

The Excercist - When the girl comes down the stairs like a spider

Poltergeist - When the tree reaches into the bedroom and snatches the kid . . .scared the p*ss out of me

Apocalypse Now - Flight of the Valkaries (sp?)

The longest yard - "Let him through again . . . snicker"

Titanic - DiCaprio drowns and the movie ends

Star Wars Revenge of the Sith - The opening battle scene
Star Wars The Phantom Menace - Obi Wan takes on Darth Maul in one of the best sword fights I've ever scene

PayBack - "You got a light", "No", "Then what good are you to me" bang

Saving Private Ryan - "Storming the Beach"

Forest Gump - "Forest running ahead of the Napalm Strike"
"When it stopped raining in Vietnam"
Glenngary Glenross - "Alec Baldwin, sales motivator"

OK Movies:

Shawshank - when he emerges from the sewer into the rain. Yeah its a standard pick so let's move on....

The 25th Hour - a brilliant monologue at the end from Brian Cox (spoiler alert) where he describes what would happen if they just kept driving instead of taking the exit to jail where Ed Norton is supposed to report. Its one of the best 10 minutes of film ever made.

Out of Sight - the love scene between Lopez and Clooeny where it cuts between the conversatoin in the lounge and the steamy stuff. A very nice love scene that isn't cliche

Three Colors Red - The scene between the main character and old man in the auditorium. Brilliant foreign movie.

Karate Kid - The final fight of course.

Backbeat - the scene between John Lennon and Astrid in the lighthouse.

Bounce - yeah this moved sucked ass but there was a nice little moment that i quite liked during the "dating montage" where Paltrow and Ben are in a cafe. Young girl emerges from the washroom heading back to the table to her date but she's got a piece of TP trailing behind her. Paltrow gets up and steps on the TP so its comes off w/o the girl or boy realizing. Yeah. a stupid little moment but touches like this can really make a crap movie tolerable. Moving on...

Notting Hill - love the scene where Julia Roberts comes back to the book store and says her "I'm just a girl..." line. I'm not a fan of Roberts but she was very good in this role.

Grand Canyon - Scene when Glover rescues Klein in the hood. Particularly this line:
Simon: Man, the world ain't supposed to work like this. I mean, maybe you don't know that yet. I'm supposed to be able to do my job without having to ask you if I can. That dude is supposed to be able to wait with his car without you ripping him off. Everything is supposed to be different than it is.

Neverending Story - When the kid loses his horse. Gets me every time

The Iron Giant - "Suuuuuuperrrrr Mannnnnnn" If you've seen the movie you know what I''m talking about.

Prince Bride:

Inigo Montoya: Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father: prepare to die. Now, offer me money.
[slices Count Rugen's cheek]
Count Rugen: Yes.
Inigo Montoya: Power too. Promise me that.
[slices Count Rugen's other cheek]
Count Rugen: All that I have and more. Please...
Inigo Montoya: Offer me everything I ask for.
Count Rugen: Any thing you want.
Inigo Montoya: I want my father back, you son of bitch.

Brilliant!

Rob Roy - final sword fight

The Sweehereafter - when Ian Holm tours the empty bus. Creepy.

Unbreakable - the scene in Grand Central Station when Bruce Willis discovers his powers

Strange Days - under-rated action movie but in particularl I enjoy the end credits of all things.

Last of the Mohicans - the final fight when Daniel Day Lewis and his father chase down the dudes that killed his brother.

Whew I guess that's enough. Sorry for the long post. I like movies.

Kathy Bates's performance in Misery. At some points I actually believed she was Annie Wilkes.

For those of you who have watched the movie but have not read the book, in the book she doesn't "hobble" Paul. I won't spoil it for you, but it's horrifying.

Requiem for a Dream—winter (the last half-hour is the most intense stuff I've ever seen)

Apocalypse Now

"Do you smell that? ... Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning. Smelled like ... Victory!"

Dirty Hairy

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five? Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being as this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?

Pulp Fiction

I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

The Shining

"Wendy, I'm Home!"

The Wonder Years...the best TV show not available on DVD yet. On with my picks:

Schindlers List:

When the kids are hiding in the outhouse slop.

Platoon:
When Charlie Sheen looks down to see Willem Dafoe still alive and getting pelted with bullets.

Forrest Gump:
-When the bullets start flying on them in Vietnam.
-"She got the cancer and died on a Tuesday".

The Garfield Christmas Cartoon:
When Grandma is rocking in the chair reminiscing about her memories of her husband at Christmas time...gets me every time.

Toy Story 2:
The cheesy song about when the girl grows up and starts to neglect her toys. I have no idea why I get so affected by cartoons.

In Signs, where the Alien's hand comes out from under the pantry door. Or when you see the reflection of the Alien in the TV.

when george h. w. bush said the now infamous "new world order" speech

one of reagan's last speeches, in chicago i believe, where he all but mentioned some outside alien threat that should be reason enough for earth to unite (?)

a featurette on alexander lebed, deceased former russian governer, and watching him lambaste a crowd and telling them that vodka and brazieres win their loyalty. they cheered.

The last half hour of Audition by Takashi Miike - the most disturbing scenes in one of the creepiest movies of all times. Gives me shivers just thinking about it now.

I Know What You Did Last Summer - When Jennifer Love Hewitt runs around in the rain in a low cut top

Can't Hardly Wait - Jennifer Love Hewitt's shirt in this movie is amazing too.

I Still Know What You Did Last Summer - When Jennifer Love Hewitt takes her top off to fake and bake

Heartbreakers - Pretty much every scene in Heartbreakers (with Jennifer Love Hewitt) made me shiver

The Tuxedo - In that black dress

Garfield - Jennifer Love Hewitt

You get the picture.

Seriously though:

South Park episode 513: Kenny Dies - When Kenny actually dies from a terminal illness, never to come back (until the end of the next season). Gets me every time.

Not officially.

Are they allowed to sell this?

I'm surprised that somebody is selling the DVD series of The Wonder Years when it hasn't even been released yet. Well I'm not surprised that somebody is selling it but I'm surprised that it is allowed.
