Thumbs up High River show and shine this Sunday the 23rd - 10th anniversary

Quote:
The 10th Annual River City Classics Show & Shine in High River, Alberta is touted as the largest one-day event of its kind in Western Canada with over 12,000 people attending in 2011.

It is a non-profit event and is not bank-rolled by the Town of High River or local Chamber of Commerce. It is organized and executed entirely by volunteers and supported by sponsors. Last year, over $10,000 from event proceeds was given back to local charities!

Besides an impressive display of differnt kinds of vehicles from a number of era's, the River City Classics Show & Shine also features live entertainment on the Stampede Stage, numerous food vendors, and other entertainment.

Last years event drew 1250 vehicles and with temps to be in the low 20's this Sunday, I suspect another record turnout will be had. A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

A few pics from last year....

Its an excellent show. Probably the biggest show in Southern Alberta if not all of Alberta.

... and its free!!!

Edit.. Just read the OP completely. Apparently I'm wrong. Its not the biggest show in Alberta. Its the biggest show in Western Canada!

Anyway one nice day I was at a 7-11 with the top down and a guy from Vancouver walked up and said "nice car" I'll give you 10 grand for it! I thought hmmm, I sold it for 13 and smiled all the way to the bank.

A few years later a real car buff told me there were probably only 50 or so of these models ever sold with that engine and they were all special order.

Mine looked like this only with white top/strips and rally sport factory rims.

I owned this from 1974 -1984...

1970 z28 rated at 360 hp out of the factory. Came from factory with Holly 4 barrel carb, solid lifters, 11-1 compression ratio, 4 bolt main, Muncie 4 spd manual tranny.

Not a pic of my car but mine was identical to this one in every way including paint color.

There are a lot of variety of cars. Last year there was a whole section of Fieros. The year before that I met someone who had his 1940s car chosen for a movie that was being filmed in the area.

Alot of the vehicles are of the muscle variety from GM, Ford and Chrysler. You can also see classic trucks and cars from the past. Some examples from last year....

That was a great car as well, Pretty much the last year (71 actually) of the great muscle cars. I actually bid on a big block "396" model at an auction once but missed out to a camaro nutcase with too much money. I ended up with a 68 chevelle 454 SS that in the end I lost way too much money on...brutal car really!

I appreciate that car, however I wouldn't trade the blood sweat and tears I have put into my Fiero.

fiero , a agg
(orgoglioso) proud
essere o andare fiero di qn/qc to be proud of sb/sth
