Damn, I opened this thread hoping it was going to be about all of us recalling our favorite meat related memories...
Edit: also, damn, I had safeway steaks this weekend.

I received a call from Costco about the Kirkland lean ground beef we bought. At least we didn't eat it. Outta the freezer and back to Costco it goes.

Interesting that they would call. I guess with the membership they know exactly who bought what. No call from them so it looks like I am in the clear!

Anybody who's bought ground beef at the NW Beacon Hills Costco is ok so as long as you cook it thoroughly. But if you are still paranoid and worried you can always bring it back with the receipt and get your money back.

As long as it is cooked to 170 it will be fine,(this temp will kill the e coli bacteria) however feel free to return anything you think may be even close to those dates. No other meat is affected, ONLY GROUND BEEF. The media also saying it is from an Edmonton plant is incorrect, it is from the Lakeside Plant in Brooks which is now owned by XL which is an Edmonton based company.

So here's the thing. I bought some at the Beacon Hill Costco last Friday, so it's in the recall. Saturday, I made it into Italian meatballs and a few trays of lasagne and it's all in the freezer.
If you know for sure, I would like to know for sure. If not, how do I get my refund?

As long as you cooked it thoroughly without having any pink showing, its good to eat. As the above poster said, if you cook it at a temperature of 160-170 degrees and cook until theres no pink, its ok to eat.
But like I said, if you are worried you might get sick after hearing about this recall, you can bring it back and refund your money, but I am not quite sure if they will refund it once you've made it into a lasagne.
And if you must know, I work at the Beacon Hills Costco. haha.

Here in Canada, they usually cook hamburgers thoroughly. In the USA, a lot of restaurants will ask you how you want your hamburger done. I can't believe anyone would want their hamburger rare, especially with the treat of Ecoli, etc.

pretty much, if you cook anything at a high enough temperature and kill all the bacteria you could eat most anything...
